***Official 2010 F1 thread***

thats a bit bizarre as Brawn has previousely said they wont announce until BOTH drivers are signed - plus I thought it was practically confirmed thru paddock rumours that Rosberg signed a while ago....are Brawn trying to capitalise on slow Monday's? (Merc deal being announced this time last week)

Brawn shoots down speculation over Schumacher & Mercedes

I'm confident second seat is Schumachers then, otherwise they would have announced Heidfeld at same time.
Probably doesn't actually mean anything, but . . .
Ross Brawn has shot down intensifying speculation that Michael Schumacher is set to return to Formula One in 2010.
...
When asked about the speculation by Germany's Bild, Brawn replied: "There's nothing to it except a dream of the media [and Schumacher fanboys on certain Internet forums]. Michael would have come back temporarily for Ferrari, but he doesn't want to start a new career."

Hmmmm.

Setting up a new team with a 41 year old, driver. I'm not sure whether this is the right way to go.

I remember when Mansell returnd to F1 - he wasnt as quick as Hill or MS.

When Prost returned after his 1 year sabatical, although he was in by far, the fastest car on the track, during the race, I sometimes saw him struggle - something I never saw him do before his sabbatical.

If MS comes back and is faster than Rosberg, then he will may well be the first retired driver to make a successful comeback.

With all the Rosberg photos with Merc/AMG clothing and his talk of visiting the factory on Wednesday it looks like Williams released Rosberg early - or at least isn't enforcing his contract as tightly as Brawn is with Button.

Mercedes might've paid Williams a little compensation, to release Rosberg earlier from his contract.

It would appear that Mercedes are not short of money.

I've heard from a football supporting friend that Virgin F1 will be announced over the next 24 hours, he's not really a huge F1 fan but he also told me Renaults exact punishment 48 hours before their hearing. If this one is correct as well I'll start pushing him for more info. ;)

Weren't they meant to be the title sponsor for Manor F1?

I knew I forgot someone. How old was he though when he returned? Not in his 40s I trust?
Wikipedia and my dodgy maths says he retired at about 30 and came back as a 32/33 year old and did another 4 seasons with McLaren. He retired through choice to run his airline but had to come back after running out of money.
