***Official 2010 F1 thread***

Anyone else watching the BBC Sports Personality Awards?

Eddie Jordan rocked the drums with the F1 opening before Jenson came on stage! :D

I was a little surprised he was playing them live on tv (yes I know he played for a lot of years at the British GP concert afterwards, but live on the BBC is a big difference imo) - he really played well too

Im REALLY hoping MS doesnt come back- I dont care for what reason, there arent enough seats in decent cars for the young drivers to get a good chance - someone who hasnt raced competitively for 3 seasons shouldnt be allowed near a merc seat

There are many more teams this year, so rookies have the best chance they have had for many many years. OK they won't step into a top team (except Hulkenberg) but at least they can start off in the lower teams which used to be Arrows, Jordan, etc and get experience to work up :)

Thats why I stressed decent cars ;)

I will still be surprised if all the proposed teams actually make it to the 1st grid, and I thought Hulkenberg was Willains who are now Cosy engined which makes them at best the leading team of the 2nd part of the grid ie not a decent car (unfortunately)

If that Cosworth power train amounts to anything I will be very surprised indeed

Think its a bit unfair to compare this 2nd half of the grd next year to Jordan (I agree with Arrows though - who were a dismal failure apart from one singe race) , EJ's team held their own and did very well for a number of seasons - although I guess htey tailed off before being sold / rebranded, Force India will be in leading pack next season imo

Drivers don't have to start in decent cars... Alonso started in a Minardi seconds off the pace. Actually I think it's better if rookies start in slower cars.

I specifically didnt mention the word "rookies" - there are still some decent drivers around (like Anthony Davidson) who deserve a seat more than somone who "retired" three seasons ago

And sorry the Alonso /Minardi thing doesnt wash anymore - at least when FA was in that small team the car was relatively unique (without even considering the fact that any likely champion will show flair even in a terrible car - but Im just talking about decent mid grid drivers who in amongst 6 -10 practically identical cars will all look incredibly similar)

So, seen as Lloyds bank have invested in Manor (Virgin), and us the tax payers own a large chunk of Lloyds, does that me we in turn all own a tiny insey winsey bit of Virgin F1? :)

I'm gonna "do an Eddie Jordan", and predict that no CFD-car will be on pole or on the podium next season.

In fact I will say that they will downright suck :p

Is there a deadline to announce drivers for the start of the season? Do each team have to register 2 drivers and a back-up for the start?

What's wrong with any poor car that a proper budget couldn't help out with?

Some over the years were beyond help (Life L190 for example). The Simtek cars were fundamentally decent, certainly able to make it to the flag more often than the Pacifics, but let down by having to take on paying drivers and an outdated Ford customer engine.

Renault not leaving F1....

Damn...

Sold a chunk of the team to Genii Capital, operating the team together.
Also will be supplying Red Bull Racing with grenades, sorry... engines again in 2010

[edit] Just to clarify - I wanted Prodrive to buy the team.
