***Official 2010 F1 thread***

"Sauber have been awarded the 13th and final slot on the Formula 1 grid next year in place of Toyota, which quit the sport at the end of the 2009 season."

So that's it then 26 cars at the start next season.
Can't wait....roll on march :D

The wonders of having more than 1 f1 thread for the off season - was posted about at about 4:30 this afternoon in the drivers and teams for 2010 thread...

But 3492 threads about each and every little bit of news is better than one large one with 12000 posts... apparently...

have renault decided to quit?

Seems to be how it's looking at the moment...

Renault is looking for a way of pulling out of Formula 1 as a constructor before the start of the 2010 season, and is actively searching for buyers for its team, with David Richards's Prodrive operation among the contenders. But the French company would continue as an engine supplier.

Personally I'd prefer individual threads then I could catch up on gist of the latest news with just a quick skim of the forum index and just click on the threads of interest. As things stand I have to wade through pages of tedious bickering over whether Button is better than Hamilton with the occasional bit of news interspersed.

Virgin F1, Don't be surprised if their race finishes early! :D

...or it goes flat-out for 20 minutes then gets capped at 56KPH ;)

I think its probubly more due to presure from Bernie to not just pull out and have the image of 4 car makers pulling out in 12 months, than actually because Renault want to stay.

Also, just thinking, I assume the 2 year suspended ban extends to whoever takes over the team aswell, especialy if they keep the Renault name?

:( doesn't seem to bad, but I really think you should get a bigger advantage for winning. How the hell can you have the same gap from 1st to second as you do 2nd to 3rd. It's basically the current system but to let more teams score as the grid is bigger

I don't know man, the information in the post above would suggest that there is a very good chance it is going to happen.

I do think it would be odd for MS to return to F1, given that he has nothing to prove and it is unlikely that Brawn GP will be able to build a car capable of winning the title. Unless of course MS genuinely wants to make a return in order to win the title - which would require a 2-3 year program to achieve.

I think this exact point is why we dont know yet. MS will want a car he can win with, so he is likely waiting it out to see how the Merc performs to see if its up to scratch, before possibly tarnishing his career with a mediocre comeback in a poorly performing car.

I recon we will be waiting untill after the first lot of testing before we know if MS is driving. Good time, hes in, bad times and Heidfeld will take the spot.

Anyone else watching the BBC Sports Personality Awards?

Eddie Jordan rocked the drums with the F1 opening before Jenson came on stage! :D
