***Official 2010 F1 thread***

Lola unfortunately made a lot of noise about not wanting to use the Cossie lump, and Prodrive have some previous with Mercedes which may be didn't help.

The really daft thing is that Team America were almost a guaranteed shoe in for one of the slots, so could have started much earlier than the others, and they still haven't produced anything.

Does Bernie get money up front from these new teams for a grid slot? IF the new teams don't get their act together can he give the slots to other new teams for more money?

Given that he's a one for the odd sneaky tactic, why not take money off those teams that have a lower chance of making the cut and then take more from those that you knew all along would get the job done.
 
More Campos and USF1 rumours. :D *Have to admit - I'm really enjoying some of the fluff floating around about these two... ;)*

Windsor has gone from USF1
Both Campos and USF1 will be on the grid.
As will Stefan GP

Well, as Campos-USF1 and StefanGP.

Campos and USF1 to combine into a single team with Colin Kolles and Geoff Willis involvement. Kind of makes sense as Campos has cars and USF1 has a much better facility. With Kolles and Willis on board there would finally be some respectability to the outfit.

Less than 25 days to Bahrain and still no noise form USF1 or Campos on tests or drivers - between the two of them there appears to be 1 team... if someone will stick in some money. Lopez and Senna as drivers?

I think the only way there is any chance of either of them getting on the grid is if they join forces, but meging a team in such a short time scale is going to cause a few sleepless nights for a few people.

It is quite interesting to keep tabs on these 2, their situation always changes :)
 
Campos - Kolles and VW? Mentioned this earlier, but seems to be heading somewhere.

VW were always - We don't want or need F1. It's not our thing. According to this their stance may be changing...
 
The whole team selection process stunk. All the new teams running Cosworth engines, which just happened to be the standard engine route the FIA wanted but didnt get aproved, while proven teams like Prodrive with Dave Richards, and Lola were left without a place?

Seems the FIAs favoratism to smaller less capable teams that sang from the FIA hym sheet may have backfired when half of them dont show up...

yea i dont see any of the accepted teams other than lotus and virgin running a full race distance even if they do turn up.

if testing is anything to go buy even virgin will struggle to finish a race for the first few

Yep. Wheras I think you will agree that if Lola or Prodrive had got a spot, they would be out testing with the rest, with pleanty of sponsors on board from their proven success in Motor sport. In my opinion, it was a risky move but the FIA to get their own way through the back door that hasnt quite worked...

Hehehe.

Thats a good advert, though they were hampered by what they could say, due to the fact that Heikki is known in F1 circles as Hamilton's whipping boy.
 
They will just use the national driver though. Countries always do. When Alonso was at McLaren the Spanish Santander adverts featured Alonso and De La Rosa, Hamilton wasnt used. And I expect Vodaphone and the BBC to whore Hamilton and Button as the home champions.

They are focusing on the future with Lotus in that ad too, which is always going to be better than saying "1 win, and a load of other finishes way behind his team mate..." lol.
