***Official 2010 F1 thread***

UK for at least one year..

As for the paintscheme - I wouldn't bet against green and yellow. Especially as Hitachi will in all probability be sponsoring them - possibly even title sponsor.

Hitachi have wanted Lotus to get into F1 again for years, and they have repeatedly said that they will continue to sponsor them.

Why do Hitachi love Lotus so much?

Just because they will be based in the UK doesnt mean they will be UK registered as a team. They can be Malaysian registered with the base here. Renault, Red Bull and Force India are all based in the UK but arent a UK registered team.

Are Hitachi Malaysian?

Oh yeah, Renault have pretty much admitted that the crash was deliberate and have only disputed whose idea it was, as far as I'm concerned that leaves them up **** creek regardless of who is found to have suggested it first. Fully expecting them to leave the sport one way or another and for the remains of the BMW team to be back in their place.

I suppose the difference between Crashgate and Spygate is that Renault seems to have, more or less, admitted guilt straightaway... whereas McLaren didn't and spent their time and money on smoke grenades and mirrors.

BMW sold? Im not sure which colour I would like to see the Lotus cars as. Black/Gold, Yellow/Green or Red/White/Gold. I do think its abit late in the day for them to be announced as a team for 2010. Hardly enough time to develop a reliable car unless they have known for some time and are already nicely ahead in the development.

OK guys, whoever wins the WDC gets to stay, the one who come 2nd is out on his ear.

Actually, I think Barrichello will be out on his ear even if we wins the WDC esp after all his bad mouthing of Brawn after the first third of the season. He should be grateful he even drive for 2009, the ungrateful git.

Cool - Freemason F1!

Lotus are yet another team with a Cosworth engine. Seems the rumors that the FIA ignored all applications for next year unless they took a Cosworth engine might actually have been true. All 4 new teams are Cosworth...

Sneaking a standard engine in the back door?

I also am of the thinking he will be out. Button is younger and has a longer shelf life.

Barrichello will be perfect for a new team, lots of experience, and proven consistancy.

AFAIK ALL the new teams that submitted a new entry for 2010 planned to use the Cosworth engine, including Pro Drive (they have close links with Cosworth anyhow - distributing Cosworth perf parts for Suburus). All the data coming in from the Cosworth F1 engine tests show it to be a cracking engine and should be very competitive.

Many people didn't give their last engine, the CA2006, the credit it deserved. I think it was the first to break the 20,000 rpm barrier - causing the FIA to bring in the rpm cap, and also the first and only engine able to spend more than a third of race distance above 20,000rpm. Thier whole design was centered around high rpm so when the FIA introduced the cap limit - they could get a new engine out fast enough and an RPM capped CA2006 wouldn't have been competitive so it left the F1 scene shortly after.

In case you couldn't tell, I'm a bit of a Cosworth fan - as you would expect of someone who owns three Cosworth engines :-)

I don't see how Brawn could let him go tbh. He and Jenson have opposing driving styles and plenty of experience which would be invaluable for setting up a car, plus they complement each other so well as team mates which you don't tend to see with other teams very often.

The only thing they stand to gain by letting a driver go is by hiring an affirmative no2 driver. It's for certain they face a big headache in the coming races with regards to their drivers and although I can see them happily race it to the end, I wouldn't be surprised if they come to some gentlemanly agreement in later races to let one take the title (and im actually thinking Button would let Barrichello take it).

By the next race, they could have dropped Red Bull from the WDC running and nearly have the constructors sown up - I don't think they'll be a need for a gentlemens agreement - they could crash into each other and still not affect the outcome :-)

I'm looking forward to some extremely good scraps - if those two are the only two who can win the WDC with three races to go and the constructors sealed as well, we'll see some awesome racing ;-)

Are we all missing a trick here...

Has Button been lined up by another team? How rock solid is his contract at Brawn? I just reliased I have no idea what his contract status is!

...lots of text...QUOTE]

Im always a fan of British involvement in F1, so it is a good thing in my eye that Cosworth are back, but wasnt there well over 10 teams applying for the then 3 places in F1? I cant belive all of them were Cosworth engined. Its more than a cooincidence that only Cosworth teams are in, especially seen as the FIA wanted the standard Cosworth engine.

But ignroing all the hidden politics and stuff, 28 cars in F1 could be awesome!
