***Official 2010 F1 thread***

BBC Reporting Kimi not likely to be at Ferrari next year (shocker) but have screwed up a bit on Kimis recent history me thinks:

BBC said:

Raikkonen finished third in his first season at Ferrari in 2008

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo says Kimi Raikkonen is not guaranteed to drive for the team next season.

The 29-year-old Finn won the 2007 drivers title with McLaren before switching to Ferrari but finished third in 2008 and lies fifth this season.

EDIT: They've now corrected the errors! :D

FIA has published the WMSC documents\;
http://www.fia.com/en-GB/mediacentre/pressreleases/wmsc/2009/Pages/wmsc_220909_docs.aspx

Makes for some interested reading.
It sounds like it was initially Piquets idea that was put to Symonds and Briatore. They then went along with it.
Plus there is actually a whistler-blower who corroborated the intention to crash deliberately, but didn't know the plan was going ahead until the crash happened.

even better than the documents is the audio of the WMSC hearing, 70 odd minutes off it on that page.

Not for certain:

However, following a meeting of government officials, sources have said that the closure of the circuit has been called off pending further legal discussions to take place next week following Spa's decision to appeal against the decision.

It is only open on appeal.

Apparently, Williams have had Cosworth down at HQ I hear (amongst others)

Well they wont have Toyota next year which is fairly certain. So it must also mean they are confident that their KERS system that they plan to run next year can mat to 'other' engines easily enough?

now \ mclaren have overcome the weight and balance problems with kers. It would be mad if the majority of the teams did not run it.

I would like to see KERS ran next year but change from 6.6 seconds a lap to something like 100 seconds a race no more than 7 seconds use on a lap (15 laps of use at maximum 7 seconds). That way you wouldn't have cars never being able to be overtaken by a non-KERS car (Fisi vs Kimi @ Spa) and a bit more of a plan as to when to use it. A bit like the boost system used in F2 or what they had in Champ Car.

To bring design back to f1. They should limit the weight and electrical storage. Then allow them to use it anyway they want. Must start on the grid uncharged.

So why is that bad again? Why can't it be generated on the parade lap? That way KERS doesn't lose its point.

how does it lose it's point. That would be ok on parade lap. But I'm tlking about a system that is not power or time limited. Meaning pre charged would be very bad indeed.
