***Official 2010 F1 thread***

Just bring back bloody invention. re allow engine and the 101 other things they have banned :(..
If they want to look green, allow teams to start playing with fuel cells and electric motors. Probably wouldn't see them for years but at least allows design and investment. which would have practical public use. Or slash fuel tank size and allow any engine capacity and any induction or other engine technology and then slowly over the years keep reducing the fuel tank size.

Bring back what f1 is about Technological advancement. And I don't mean just getting he last 2% out of aerodynamics. By using incredible amounts of resources and money for stupidly small gains.

If you want loads of overtaking, go watch a same car series, which aren't aero dynamic.

But sad to say I don't think we will ever see such rules or changes :(

With regards to car design changes I would like to see:

No refuelling
Slick tyres to stay
No obligation to use every compound of tyre
The option of a hard tyre and a soft tyre with a noticable difference between them
Possible reintroduction of mild underbody venturi systems
Smaller front wings, less emphasis on external aero in general

That would suit me down to the ground I think. Looks like I belong in about 1990 :D

Although that is good. it still doesn't solve the problem of the only real design and innovation is aero.

We need a limited fuel amount and re allow engine design and remove all engine restrictions. Basically do what you want small turbo, or superhcarger. Maybe rotary or whatever. but this is eh fuel you have for the race.

Also allow for alter alternative fuel, electric/fuel cells/hydrogen. Or whatever. unlikely to be used in the near future. But shows that teams can start investing in the technology.

Allow innovation and design on kers. Introduce a weight limit and allow teams to recover as much energy as they can and use it for what ever they want on a lap. Not a stupid power and time limit. what innovation does that achieve.

How ocme this season it's taking so long to confirm drivers. usually it starts mid season and by now most drivers are signed.
As far as I have seen the only confirmed ones are

Ferrari
Felipe Massa
Fernando Alonso

Red Bull Racing
Mark Webber
Sebastian Vettel

McLaren Mercedes
Lewis Hamilton

Renault F1
Robert Kubica

Or have I missed some signings.

I hope Button stays at brawn.

I want to see brawn and button take it on for a second season. We all know how good brawn is and it good be an epic fight next season with both brits winning many races.

It's a real shame that we ban feruling, thereby making efficiency key (good idea!) but then freeze engine development so no one is actually able to design a more efficient engine! :(

Yep totally stupid isn't it, as is the ban on gaining real advantage from kers.

Button to McLaren!

Please make it so.

I may have to become a McLaren fan for the first time ever!

would be terriable, Hamilton is no1 driver and the car will be designed around him.

Button needs to get a no1 position and the car designed around him. I would hate to see Button at McLaren.

I never quite understand people who say that? So what, am I meant to believe that the seats are designed around Hamilton and that Button wouldnt fit. I dont believe for a minute that any car is soley built around one person. Its built to go as fast as it can. The setup is what is designed around the one person, and its perfectly possible to have 2 cars setup differently.

The fundamental setup of the car is designed around the number 1 driver in the top teams. Race set up can mitigate some of that. But not all of it. A driver can only get 100% if the driving style suits the car. So it's not just about building the fastest car.

Of ocurse it's designed around Hamilton. first half of the season it was just a rubbish car. But look how far hahead he finished from his team mate all season.

Lotus already have the 13th place that was made available when BMW annouced its withdrawl. BMW Sauber are on a provisional 14th place which would only become a real place if another team pulled out. A reserve if you like. I would be surprised if they are not confirmed as on the entry list. It all depends on whether Toyota try to sell their F1 team I think.

With Toyota pulling out surely sauber is on provisional 13th place and a new team might get a 14th place?
Epsilon Euskadi is still on the reserve list. Suppose will have to see what happens to Toyota.

"homologation of front and rear wings, limit on the number of aerodynamic upgrades permitted over the season and restrictions on the number of team personnel who can attend a GP weekend!

You sure, I haven't heard that got any links. They are considering standard wings for 2011.
