Oh no!

Damnit, now McLaren will get some chump who can get nowhere near Massa or Alonso, leaving Hamilton to fight both Ferraris. :(

In other words, Hekki to get another year? There is still the possibility of Rosberg going there if he doesn't go to Brawn. Also Glock is German and not signed for next season..

The facts are that Alonso while at McLaren, after the Hungarian GP was not on speaking terms with most people including his boss. Thats a fact.

Hamilton on the other hand was being treated like the prodigal son.

I would say that the above is clear evidence of Hamilton recieving preferential treatment over Alonso.
...
You might say that. Many people might say that it is an example of Alonso throwing a monumental sulk because HE isn't getting preferential treatment.

You could reasonably blame Briatore for failing to protect his sensitive protégé's interests. You can certainly blame Alonso for losing the plot and being psyched-out by a rookie driver. You can't blame Hamilton for Alonso not being on speaking terms with his team and boss, no matter how well it may have ended up working out for Hamilton.

personally i think kimi has priced himself out of a 2010 seat in a time of price cuts you dont want to spend a huge chuck of budget on a driver who doesn't look like he wants to be there.

:D

Yeah the one thing a underachieving team needs is two under achieving drivers :D

How is Kobayashi underachieving.
He is the only driver I've seen this year get into a car he hasn't driven before and avoid looking bloody useless. Although Alguesari seemed to cope ok.
Kobayashi was great fun at Interlagos!

Button to McLaren!

Please make it so.

I may have to become a McLaren fan for the first time ever!

would be terriable, Hamilton is no1 driver and the car will be designed around him.

Button needs to get a no1 position and the car designed around him. I would hate to see Button at McLaren.

I never quite understand people who say that? So what, am I meant to believe that the seats are designed around Hamilton and that Button wouldnt fit. I dont believe for a minute that any car is soley built around one person. Its built to go as fast as it can. The setup is what is designed around the one person, and its perfectly possible to have 2 cars setup differently.

And clearly the currently McLaren ISNT designed around Hamilton, judging by the way it was in the first half of the season.

If Button got a McLaren seat and started beating Hamliton, I bet you would be in here singing his praises. The F1 threads on this forum are just full of people posting sensationalised comments of the moment that are aimed to get the most reaction.

Bottom line, Button is not on the same level as Hamilton, so regardless of what car he is in he is going to be beaten by Lewis. He may aswell therefore go for a team that are going to pay him Champion wages, rather than stick with Brawn on low wages out of some missplaced loyalty.

Plus, fighting your team mate to get the WDC back from him will hopefully make Hamilton drive even better. And it would be 2 british champions in an (almost) british team. If we are going to loose our GP then we can atleast show our strength on the tracks elsewhere!

Button would be interesting to watch at McLaren, to see exactly what goes on in that team, but the safe bet is to keep to Brawn. He is very well integrated there and his best chance of another pop at keeping the title would be there imo.

The fundamental setup of the car is designed around the number 1 driver in the top teams. Race set up can mitigate some of that. But not all of it. A driver can only get 100% if the driving style suits the car. So it's not just about building the fastest car.

Of ocurse it's designed around Hamilton. first half of the season it was just a rubbish car. But look how far hahead he finished from his team mate all season.

Nothing to do with Hamilton simply being better than Kovi then? And Button has won races this year openly stating he was using Rubens setup. And If the car was designed around Hamilton, why was he saying it was undriveable by him at the begining of the season. If it was just slow then he would have felt perfect in the car, but just not been fast enough.

I agree a car can be geared towards a persons style, but saying that a car is designed around one driver only, to the extent that any other driver would automatically be rubbish in comparison is simply not true.

Brawn have been quick this season based on being better prepaired for the new rules than anyone else. They have been overtaken during the season by Red Bull and been caught up by a lot of other teams. With their limited budget im also not convinced they will be a championship fighting force next year (again, id love to be proved wrong). So Buttons choice would be for a 1 season wonder team based on 12 months more development than anyone else, but with all that advntage gone, and no money, or McLaren, a proven long term top flight team and multiple championship winners, who also have more money.

If I was Button, I know exactly what I would be chasing for.

But also look at it from McLarens point of view. Other than Kimi, who else is there worth putting in that seat who is available on the drivers market?

I can see you're a Button fan, but you have to be realistic. Hamilton will go on to win multiple WDCs. Button - well, he's won one and that's his lot. You can't compare the 2 drivers. I would say Massa is comparable to Button.

You do not know this for sure - there are already rumours Mercedes wants out of McLaren in favour of Brawn, so imagine McLaren with Cosworth , how likely would Hamilton be of multiple championships with McLaren then......highly UNLIKELY imo

ps - I really dont need an english lesson from you of all people - get your facts right before trying to teach typing /editing , your early season opinion has been wholly wrong, yet you still want to find excuses as to why it couldnt happen again
