***Official 2010 F1 thread***

Sure, had Ferrari caught McLaren rather than someone else and none of the sorry mess had become public. But McLaren brought the sport into disrepute - making it a matter that the FIA could claim jurisdiction over.

they werent charged with disrepute though - or not in a major way, they were charged with spying, which they didnt actually do as they were given / sent the info

Also Im not sure it initially came from McLaren that made it public, Im sure it came from elsewhere (although I know RD told the FIA)

I'd be surprised if Renault pull out considering they just signed Kubica.

Also, what penalties are involved for breach of the concorde agreement since Toyota committed to 2 more years.

I wonder how long ago that was actually signed (even though it was only recently announced)

Could they get away with it if they agree to continue supplying engines even if the team go back to Benetton / Any other Sponser

Honda didnt seem to have any issue last winter pulling out even though Im sure they must have been in breach also

Honda sold their team and effectively their entry to Brawn with the approval of the other teams, CVC and the FIA. Toyota look like they are leaving without the intention of selling the team... so far anyway.

So what teams are going to be in next year. Is lotus and sauber going to in now?

Lotus already have the 13th place that was made available when BMW annouced its withdrawl. BMW Sauber are on a provisional 14th place which would only become a real place if another team pulled out. A reserve if you like. I would be surprised if they are not confirmed as on the entry list. It all depends on whether Toyota try to sell their F1 team I think.

Would be a shame to lose Renault. Should hear tomorrow what they do?

I personally think they wont leave. More a case of "Get the results on less money or we will pull the plug." But then stranger things have happened.

Next year should see quite a bit of cost saving with no refuelling, "homologation of front and rear wings, limit on the number of aerodynamic upgrades permitted over the season and restrictions on the number of team personnel who can attend a GP weekend... along with others."

And thank god the wheel covers will be banned too!

With Toyota pulling out surely sauber is on provisional 13th place and a new team might get a 14th place?
Epsilon Euskadi is still on the reserve list. Suppose will have to see what happens to Toyota.

You sure, I haven't heard that got any links. They are considering standard wings for 2011.

Like I said it all depends on what Toyota do. From what i've read there has been no mention of selling the team. Once the FIA determine their intentions then Sauber may get the green light. As I understand it they are the team next in line for a place. Lotus get their place then BMW Sauber were granted 14th place. No one else as far as I know has '15th place' if you like.

Epsilon Euskadi are reported to be still interested in joining the grid for 2010 but I expect there would be yet another tender process from the FIA should another spot become available. The previous one didn't take long so would be likely.

You sure, I haven't heard that got any links. They are considering standard wings for 2011.

"Toro Rosso's Franz Tost told reporters at the Hungaroring that, quite apart from this year's frenetic rate of development, only three changes to fundamental aerodynamic parts next year will be allowed.

"For example, front wings, rear wings. They are homologated," he said.

"You can bring out three new modifications, the floor as well, the monocoque, also only one crash structure. That means that FOTA has worked out quite a good programme where we are convinced that we can reduce costs," Tost added.

Christian Horner and Stefano Domenicali, meanwhile, of the Red Bull and Ferrari teams respectively, revealed that the number of personnel per team attending races is to be capped.

Domenicali said similar staff number restrictions will not apply to factories.

"All that I can say is that we are working on a situation in order to reduce the number of people at races."
