***Official 2010 F1 thread***

No wonder fia is introducing so many riules that subtract and go away from the core values of F1 when so many people want things banning for look reasons  utter stupidity.

yup, they "look" fine.

what needed baning was the toyota rear "fan" style covers. These surely were against the moveable aerodynamic device as they were sucking air through the rim/disc.

Anton Zimmerman's '09 Review has been posted at Pitpass.

Thought this bit was interesting:

Until Massa's accident, Kimi Raikkonen had clearly decided that his trademark insouciance was the only appropriate response to being handed a pig truck. However when the team leant on him in the aftermath of Massa's accident he demonstrated that he is still one of the most talented drivers on the grid. If McLaren do take on the challenge of a Hamilton-Raikkonen partnership it could be the strongest driver combination on the grid in 2010. That said, if rumours of père Hamilton's opposition to such a pairing are true then I won't be holding my breath though. Again, interesting to see that the same people who objected to the subservience of Michael Schumacher's team mates seem to see no problem with the Hamiltons' demands for the same treatment. It is a perfectly logical position for Lewis to take but the hypocrisy of some corners of the press takes some believing.

Why am I so unsurprised that Anthony Hamilton wouldn't want a guy who's been World Champion in the second seat at McLaren? It's about time he buggered off from the paddock and let the team decide what's good for Hamilton's career.

I'd love to see a Hamilton/Raikkonen partnership with a decent McLaren car next year, especially if they could have equal status in the team. Not going to happen, of course. But a guy can dream.

Also, something I know sunama won't agree with:

It is an oft-stated criticism of Formula 1 that you can only win in a good car. Well half of the job of a professional racing driver is to get himself into a good car. Hamilton and Alonso have done it through consistent displays of brilliance earning them the attention of team bosses up and down the pitlane. Button did it through hard graft and perseverance but that makes it no less of an achievement.

;)

Except Anthony Hamilton has said Kimi would be better in that seat than Heikki. If you believe him, of course.

i wouldnt believe him, doesnt seem the type of person that would want any competition for his kid.

hes obviously one of those pushy parents trying to live his life through his son, lewis should tell him to GTFO!

i'd be embarassed if it was my dad.

sure come to some races be like jensons dad , dont sit in the garage infront of the cameras all the bloody time

In his defence I think Lewis' dad has given up a lot to get him where he is as any father would have to so their son could race in F1

Also isnt Anthony Lewis' Manager - John Button is fantastic but as he isnt Jenson's manager, might be why he is in the garage (a bit) less

I can see both sides of the arguement, a strong enough driver in the same car to help the team but not get in the way of the "main" driver

Personally think Kimi would be happy collecting regular points but not pushing himself to the limits in a McLaren, who knows though (maybe he doesnt fancy doing all the testing involved if the BMW engine department is bought by McLaren and they seperate from Mercedes)

Kimi has been a great driver - but if he does have a sabbatical I cant see even him making it back in future (without a major incident like Massa one this year incapacitating someone for numerous races)

I don't disagree. ;)

Button did well this year. He stuck it out with the same team, even though they produced turkey after turkey. This year, his faith paid off. Fair play to him.

I personally, prefer to change teams based on who is consistently offering the best car (ie. over the last5 years or so, this would be McLarean and Ferrari), but Button chose a different route.

There is nothing wrong with that though. If it was my son, I would want him to be in the best possible team, in the best possible car, with no competition, so that it makes him look good. I wouldn't want anyone to beat my son.

Don't think I've seen any of the drivers mum at the racing...?

But when you think about it, Team Hamilton want to project a very family oriented image. We've seen the brother, the father, the girl friend...why not mother?

Are the parent separated perhaps and mum doesnt want to be seen near dad?

Does it really matter? It's kind of their business really
