***Official 2010 F1 thread***

Don't think I've seen any of the drivers mum at the racing...?

They were all there for mothers day once, the only time I remember really. Sato had a big crash and I remember them flashing the camera at his mother.

I agree with JRS, I suppose it's natural for a father to protect his son but he has an enormous amount of weight he keeps throwing around mclaren. He was a main player in trying to defelct any critism from his son in the lieing incident and that he wanted others to take the fall.

I cant stand the bloke, most of the time he looks more like he's protecting an investment rather than a son.

Who said F1 isnt political anyway lol whether its between teams or within the same team, its as much about behind the scenes as it is on the race track

Only a very few on here would know (and the stuff we would like them to spill they would probably lose their jobs over if they know in the first place)

Personally think that as Anthony is Lewis's manager, making anything professional rather than personal would be more likely ot be respected by any team imo, just throwing his weight around because he is the father probably wouldnt last long (or Lewis' career either for that matter) - however talented a driver Lewis is, and however much investment McLaren have already invested, in the long term view its not worth McLaren's time or energy if they try and get too big for their own boots (after all the team can break his career as much as make it, Lewis is nothing without the team around him)

Dont get me wrong he would still be a good driver and possibly a great one at Ferrari, but at any other team he would only be a paid driver - he wouldnt be in the "family" environment of McLaren (and of course being just a paid driver means even less weight can be thrown around)

I wonder: if push came to shove, would Ferrari ever risk pairing Alonso with Hamilton, if Hamilton ever become 'available'.

I imagine Alonso's contract wouldn't allow it, especially after 2007. He won't want to be less than a clear number one again.

if they really wanted to fire a warning shot at hamiltons dad they would buy trulli out of his contract and have him do the trulli train on hamilton every race

Can somebody explain to me how bringing in Button would send a message to A.Hamilton? I'm lost.

well for a start, Lewis would ACTUALLY be No 2 (as in the number on his car)

The car itself would be in Lewis's favour, but Im sure there would be "additional" support within the team for the new guy to get him up and running

Still thik it would be a really bad idea, Brawn are being a bit stingy it seems especially when Merc do buy a huge part of the team

What makes you think Trulli would ever get ahead of Lewis?

Bring in someone easier to beat than Raikkonen?
Sounds like a great idea...

;)

Its not tough to beat Raikkonen, ask Heidfeld and Massa two of F1's greats.

I didnt realise Anthony was upsetting the establishment at Mclaren that much!

He had a large part in having Ron removed, the final nail in the coffin for Ron was Hamilton Snr threatening to take his boy elsewhere. I don't suppose mercedes liked him throwing his weight about either.

Thought that was Mad MAx / FIA forcing Ron out?

Surely if anything its been Ron supporting Lewis' career to date, Im surprised Anthony wanted him out over one (admittedly very bad) weekend

I know lie-gate was a real low for Hamilton, no question, and that was a HUGE fubar by McLaren (with all the proof aired by the BBC during the race making it ludicrously stupid)

I have to say I wouldnt be surprised if the Hamilton family is making the Merc decision to jump ship to Brawn that little bit easier though

Nope Ron was hammered by Max but still hanging in there until Lewis father stuck his oar in after liegate.

His father as you can expect is not a popular figure within the team which is why pitpass keeps hinting at problems with his father.
