i'm really disappointed in Mclaren they've taken another step back but i've been a fan since the 80's and won't stop. whether RBR run away or not there should be some good battles for mid field...the only problem will be whoever decides which car's to show on tv deciding that they like to follow the first place guy and not show the battles.

I thought Piastri was supposed to be the second coming? ;)

Piastri is going to be under a lot of pressure to perform, and perform quickly - not seen much from him so far though

He's a rookie, who Alpine had sitting on the sidelines for a year, it's unreasonable to expect him to be beating Norris from the off. He needs to be close to or exceeding Norris by the end of the year but he's got at least the first half of the season to find his feet.

Hell, avoiding a total spanking like Lando got in his first season will probably do.

The same people would be perfectly happy with the time difference to pole position, if it was a different colour car occupying the spot.

People here spent the whole Merc era complaining about the level of domination. Your talking from the wrong end here.

i have to admit to losing interest in F1 ever since they switched to Sky TV for full coverage, but Alonso in a fast Aston Martin starting in 5th is very interesting. I hope he put up fierce resistance

Ted scraping his hands and knees to demonstrate the abrasive track surface was classic. I was impressed by some of the coverage yesterday but not so much with the qualifying pre-amble. Hopefully when they swap the presenters around it'll improve.

I just stopped watching for some of that era. For a while it became a little tedious to see the race, so it wasn't worth the effort given what was on offer.
We are talking about only a few people here, I didn't blanket the whole OcUK F1. Absolutely if yesterday's results were Merc 1-2 with Red Bulls in their positions, some people would be saying how exciting it is.

We have had some absolutely shocking race directing at points, the last couple years. I'm sure we will see a lot more this year.

I'm a Ham fan and I stopped watching too though the Ham and Bottas years. I just checked in on the results every now and then.

Started watching 2021 onwards as it started to be a fight again. I'll likely switch off mid season and onwards If RB take over the dominance mantle for a while.

Cracking race, Pourchaire looks scarily fast as well

Pourchaire is in his 3rd season of F2. He needs to totally dominate.

Maloney, meanwhile, has had a prodigious rise through the formulas and this is his first season of F2 (although he did have two races last season). If he keeps this up I see Zane in an AlphaTauri next season.

Yeah I think Tsunoda will be out next year unless he dominates v Nyck de Vries this year.
I'd always thought Pourchaire would walk into a Sauber seat but I think Audi taking over probably complicates that now, they're bound to have their own ideas on who they want to see.

Indeed. Tsunoda and de Vries are very opposite characters, Tsunoda is all natural talent and no grind, whereas de Vries is incredibly hard working but doesn't have the natural talent of many other drivers. I don't think either of them are going to reach the top, but de Vries strikes me as a character who could be an excellent second driver for Red Bull. My money, if I was the betting type, would be on Tsunoda leaving F1 next season and Maloney taking his seat. What happens to Iwasa, Lawson, etc. I don't know.

Yeah. When they decided to stick with Zhou I started having doubts about his future, and the truth is that Theo hasn't been that impressive in F2.
