Yeh, the Ham and Rosberg years were pretty good. It was also good when Ferrari caught up with Merc for a bit.
There were some incredibly boring years too. Basically just the 2 Mercs occasionally fighting. At least now we have an entire mid-field to keep things going.

Doesn’t help that RB’s punishment, and I use the word lightly, has had, so far anyway, little to no effect on their performance, or development.
The punishment was pretty severe considering the minor overspend. The way you lot act it's like they went 50% over the cap.

Let's assume it gave them some advantage; they'd still be dominating. It's the same with the previous era, the other teams couldn't get it right, which left one team out front.

And yet they’re still dominating a year after their overspend? Some effective punishment that has been.

Because their concept is better than the other teams, and clearly so is there development path. It would be the same had any other team got it right from the first season.

£100k, or whatever the minor overspend was, isn't going to completely redefine the car. Give Merc that same amount of cash and they'd still have no sidepods.

Yet, they still overspent and they're so far ahead the limp punishment was just a waste of everyones (who isn't a fan of RBR) time.

Ah well, it is what it is. I'm like some abused wife, still annoyed about 2021 and while that has killed the majority of my enjoyment for the show, I still end up coming back.

It's a bit like saying that wing is only 1mm out of tolerance it won't change the cars pace. The car will still be disqualified.

The point is the punishment should be hard enough that we don't have to have silly theoretical conversations about the difference a few 100k would make because the teams wouldn't dare breach the rules

Anyway... It's only FP1 but even so far this season Albon has really shone over a single lap and held his own up in the points as best he can with that car. I do wonder if he'd carry that form into a McLaren or Ferrari and get results.

Seems a lovely guy as well.

If weather is right looks like the f1 might miss the rain. But at least the track might be wet.

That band of rain is peeling off east

Anyone remember that time at Barcelona when it was a big Williams anniversary of some sort and they magically became boss for one race with Maldonado getting the pole and winning ?

Anniversary time again and all of a sudden they look quite good here

He has already been at Red Bull but maybe it was too soon for him and of course the car and team is geared up for Max.

Odds on Ricciardo replacing Perez anyone?

Great track. I'll probably watch the race live, maybe not the quali. Depends if it's going to rain. I don't know why but I have a feeling this could be a non Max winning race. I just feel we are due a Bottas style ten pin bowling understeer take out into turn 1. Hopefully Max gets shunted and rolled into the barriers so we can hear Christian come on the radio and cry to the British crowd. I'm sure that would go down brilliantly.

unless they sandbagging, which seems unlikely looking how they terrible in low speed corners. thats another upgrade package thats a waste of time, they either need better sim rig or sim drivers replacement
