It's clear RB are in disarray, it's just been hidden by Max's skill and Perez always has been a Baku specialist so that is likely an outlier in terms of performance. There was also some talk of a dodgy setup on Max's car.

Newey leaving was likely a symptom, not the cause imho of the changes. He was being moved further and further from the car itself, and that will have an impact slowly.

The fact they had such a great base to work on, and a driver who could pull out the best from it, even when things were sub optimal has really hidden the failings till it reached tipping point and others overtook them.

This week is key for them to steady the ship and rebuild for next year and beyond.
I suspect they SHOULD have the drivers champ secured, especially with Mclaren tripping over themselves (which I suspect will keep happening).

They need to get both the cars back up to the front 6 quickly, and I suspect they will do so here, but it would be great for the season if they continue to falter!!

Mclaren's statement: "Whilst our Baku rear wing complies with the regulations and passes all FIA deflection tests, McLaren have proactively offered to make some minor adjustments to the wing following our conversations with the FIA,".
Thing is wings have been flexing for years either beyond or on the boarder of being 'in the spirit of the rules' and technically not illegal. So Mclaren found another loophole, congratulations to them..

Pretty much same old F1

A team finds a development which no/few others have, and those that don’t have it call for it to be banned.

Yep - McLarens engineers are better than yours.

The engineers are only better when it's teams people like. When it isn't, they're all evil cheats.

I'd love to see what this sport would be if every good development wasn't banned, or silently removed from use.

Yeah I always feel like this track was Mercs achilles heel even in their glory days they never had a real measure of it.

Max has never won here amazingly! (Though it wasn't held in 2020 or 21 when he really started challenging). Can't be many tracks left where he hasn't.
