Sounds like you're still on the stock bios to me. I'm able to run 1.3v 1215/1750 and i don't get any throttling at 20%. So if you can get throttling with lower clock and voltage on a game that is not at all demanding them something is not right there. I also have no issues waking up from sleep.

GPU-Z is reporting 925/1250 default clock, so I guess it might be an oddity of my setup like Tommy suggests. I am very happy with the performance so I can just tinker with things and try and figure out what is happening. BTW, I appreciate all your help, advice and BIOSes in this thread :).

Yep could be. As has been said no harm in going at +30% though it was not needed for me. This likely varies from card to card though. Glad it helps. :)

I forgot to add it to post 2. Duly noted. I've updated the post and will drop tommy a mail to get him to update the OP.

Here's the bios.

Flashed working ok, I will do some gaming in couple minuets and see what the temps are. ;)

EDIT:
Can I add this BIOS to my thread?

EDIT2:

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/7180257

1100/1400 core voltage 1150 ram voltage stock 1600.
Power limit +20
Max temp 64c
Fan profile made by me in MSI AB as follow 30c = 30% 40c = 30% 50c = 40% 60c = 50% 70c = 60% 80 = 75%

I'm going to run heavy heaven benchmark now :)

EDIT3:

Did this fan profile as I like things quieter, but probably with the fan profile in the BIOS the temp wouldn't reach 70c.

Good stuff and yes you can. Just use the download link i provide so the original file and credits don't get altered. :)

The stock fan profile on the Ice-Q is a bit lazy for my liking, although it does a good job at being silent.

Shame that this BIOS idle voltage is 0.900 not 0.800 like it use to be on my old Low voltage BIOS :(

Can you run these clocks with the IceQ cooler? If yes then you have good ram on your IceQ, my limit is 1600.

Very good spot. I will ask him about this. I've submitted the stock bios for him to look at again and hopefully fix this small issue.

My ram at stock volts is good for about 1575.

Mine doesn't even break 1500 at 1.6V. I've given up on RAM clocking with this card.

Payday on friday so xfire should yield a new card to play with! Should I run them at identical clocks or can I tweak each one separately?

You can tweak each one for benchmarks and stuff but in my opinion for 24/7 its best to run them identically.

Hi, card came today, great service from Ocuk and DPD, included coupon codes for, Bioshock Infinite, Crysis 3, Farcry 3 BD and Tombraider. Also got email code for Amd Gold for three more games of my choice.....very nice.:D No Haribo :( This card is ugly and cheap looking but as long as it does the business who cares. Will have to wait till weekend to install, will post later re performance. Off to work shortly. :)

Ok so after some testing I can conclude that any BIOS besides the original (backup BIOS) will cause me problems with this card.

I have successfully ran BF3 single player for four missions using the backup BIOS @ 1.25V, 1150MHz on the core and 1600MHz on the memory.

When I try to run 1000MHz core, 1400MHz memory using LtMatts provided BIOS, I get artefacts and this error whilst playing Battlefield 3 single player;

...I have even tried adjusting the voltage back up to 1.25 and incresed and reduced the core/memory speeds but nothing will work without problems.

I cannot see how I can get my overclock and the non-boost BIOS to play nice together on my card. :(

Well I got my refund through quickly (thanks OCUK) and re-ordered this card again today, should be with me tomorrow when I get home! Hopefully this one doesn't have any temperature problems and I can finally get back to playing some games! :D

Have you tried the bios thats now in my guide in the OP/Post 2? It now has stock clocks so should work with any HIS card. The clocks of the new bios are 925/1250.

Hey everyone, I've been following this thread because I am really interested in the Ice-Q 7950. I'm in a place where I could buy 3 for tri-fire. My mobo supports it. Overall question is, even with the new stuff coming out, would you all still recommend going with the 7950's for the price/performance ratio? Or a better question, would everyone here make the purchase again despite coming updates?

I found setting voltage to 1.175 and using 1080MHz core with 1600MHz memory gives me a stable overclock with the flashed BIOS; so I'm happy to keep this setup.

I suppose the 75MHz lost on the core is better than using the default BIOS?

Thanks again for the advice.
