***Official*** 9800GX2 thread (reviews and benches inside)

I deleted it to help stop the silliness going on, the only other way to stop it is to hand out suspensions, either way I'm not bothered.

Yawn. As already mention in the post you replied to some people like myself dont want 2 noisy cards, or dont have a nvidia chipset board for SLI. So if i was to buy two GT's i'd have to pay 100+ for a good board which would bring the cost up to more than what i payed for the GX2. And i still wouldn't have as good performance with the GT's.

And yeah i knew the performance would be as good as this, as it was obvious.

<sarcasm>HMM a card with two G92 cores just like on the G92 GTS's... oh i wonder how that's gunna perform.... </sarcasm >

Whos saying anything about buying other motherboards or whatever? The fact is some sites did "synthetic" benchmarks of what the performance would be by taking 2 gt's and downclocking them to gx2 levels. Wasn't hard for anyone to work out the performance of this.

I know a lot of you are far too stupid^ or young to get decent paying jobs, but a lot of you seem to fail to realise that not everyone has the same amount of money.

I payed £410, so what, no big deal to me. I now have the fastest single card around. Which my 2650x1600 display could really do with. I would have only of payed about 200 after i sell my GTX anyway.

£410 isn't a big deal to most people on here seeing as most of us are enthusiasts an all and have ready cash for worthwhile hardware. Most of us just choose to do a reasonable upgrade after deep thought and consideration.

Also the irony of calling ME stupid. Hah!

Purchasing this thing on the other hand requires some serious lack of rational thought and judgement. I look forward to your purchase justification which no doubt will be flooded all over the forum for months to come.

There is no silliness just normal slightly heated debate which is only to be expected on here. Once the insults roll out feel free to suspend but I don't wish to insult anyone :)

Everyone knew it would perform like this.

No one said it wouldnt. Why are you bringing this up?

If you call my moderation comical when I have to clean up your childish bickering again you'll get the first of those suspensions, have some patience.

Ok, so tell me why i shouldn't have bought a GX2? When i want a faster single graphics card for my 30" monitor. What other options are there? The 3870X2 is too small a gain from a 8800GTX. And i cant have SLI as i have an intel chipset board and dont want the noise of two cards.

Theres no other option for me than a GX2.

Hold on

You have to hack apart your PSU for one of these?

Someone update me whats the deal here. Does the card require some DIYing.

I think its referring to the 6+2 sorta thing that comes from the PSU?? Because of the little latch at the top of the connector being slightly out compared to a normal 8 pin.

Unless Im mistaken, seems most likely :D

You should have kept the card you had i think thats his point as the gains from GX2 from your current card dont justify how much you just payed for it.

Did you need the card NOW.

I don't have a problem with the card as such. You said yourself the prices would drop on these. So why not hold out for a few weeks?. Do you desperately need a card now?, It's not like there are any decent games to play at the moment anyway. Anything that is decent is years old and plays just fine on a GTX at 2560 res anyway.

Your post was an open bait you called out 3870 users and called them stupid and 'LOL'ing at them, yet you bought a £400 card when;

A. The prices on these will drop dramatically, think 3870X2 price drop after release.

B. The real next gen is only round the corner, seriously.

Agreed, the Churchill dog also agrees

Meh, a random picture might cheer this thread up :D lol

Earlier you were saying it was a Single Card

Either way its a single PCI-E slot to fit the card and dont need a SLI Mobo and I think Anandtech at end of review called it a Single Card.
