**Official ABIT IP-35 Pro Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**

Hey folks, I have a IP35 (non pro) with a E2180 and I cannot boot with my 4GB Geil Ram.
I have been into the bios with 1GB and upped the Ram voltage to 2.1 as advised. With this setup I can boot Vista 64 and everythings fine.

Using slots 1 and 3 currently but I have tested all the slots and with 1GB and it seems the board is ok.
But it will BSODs when I put the full 4 GB in??? not even post in some cases.

Any ideas please... as I am runing at stock speeds on the E1280.

Mine works OK with 4GB and the following settings:

Undere the BIOS I have got a stable 2.8 MHz with the following settings:

CPU Operating Speed
External Clock 280 MHz
Multiplier Factor 10 x
Estimated Clock Speed
DRAM Speed (CPURAM) 1:1.25 (DDR2-700)
PCI Express Frequency 100 MHz

Voltages
CPU Core Voltage 1.3850v
DDR Voltage 2.10v
CPU VTT Voltage 1.2000v
ICH 1.50v Voltage 1.50v
MCH 1.25v Voltage 1.290v
CPU GTLREF 63.0%

My problem is I'd like 3GHz but i can't get that to work...

is your OS fully updated? iirc there is an update for running more than 3Gb.

Yep - I have no updates left to download on Vista 64 :(

ssmacc - I will have a go at your settings tonight, thanks.

I have not updated the bios at all and am using the one straight out of the box. Could this be an issue?
Can you update with the IP35 Pro Bios on the 1st post of this thread with this board or will that be a disaster?

hi - i have been running the rig below happily for 6 weeks now - thanks for all the help choosing the parts :)

Any chance someone can suggest what BIOS voltages and settings to use to jump from stock to 400fsb (which the ram easily supports) - hoping for 8 or 9 x multi on the cpu for 3.2 or 3.6. Got the arctic freezer and temps seem fine at the moment. Also i am running the energy efficient Q6600 quad core if that makes any difference.

I realise that this info may be somewhere else in this very long thread, but i wanted to make sure i am using the most up to date advice rather than stuff that might refer to older bios versions. I bought the motherboard in November if that helps.

Thanks again for all the support folks :p

Is there a way to install ACHI, after you've installed o/s..

Also, if you can (and do) I assume you can swap between IDE and ACHI mode in the bios quite happily and it will ignore the drivers for ACHI?

How to get past DDR 920 ...

Hi,

I have 4x1gb OcUK DDR PC8500 DDR2 Ram in my IP35 Pro and I have determined that my overclock is currently limited by the RAM ... I can't seem to get past DDR2 920 or so (I am using the X2 multi) ... below is an extract from my spreadsheet for my tests ... I am running at 5-5-5-18, 2T. I have also tried 1x1gb with the same result. Please Help! Is this RAM/Board combo capable of getting to 1066????

External Clock, Voltage, DDR Speed, Complete POST, Boot into Windows, Comment

225 2.100 900 YES YES
230 2.100 920 YES YES
235 1.975 940 NO NO Nothing!!
235 2.000 940 NO NO Detecting drives
235 2.025 940 NO NO Detecting drives
235 2.050 940 NO NO Nothing!!

The board ought to be able to run RAM upto ~DDR2 1200 or so & even with 4 DIMMs it should still go way north of DDR2 1000.
Are you sure that it's the RAM, you know that your CPU is capable of 460+?
You are running 1:1?

I can run stable @ 450 FSB, DDR 900 to give 3150 MHz on the core but beyond that it gets flakey no matter what I do to the Vcore and Vtt and NB so to test the RAM limit I ran a RAM ratio of 1:2 on a FSB of 230 to give a core of 1380 and a DDR of 920 ... this just about works it seems but beyond that I have no joy so I was wondering if there is anything that I need to do or mess with! This is with a 6x multi on the core.

After having fine tuned a stable 7x460 (3220) setup I tackled the issue of higher clocks again ... Had to play with DDR voltage a bit to get this solid - the best as it happens is not the highest supported voltage!

I have input the SPD values that everest divulged ... I have input values for all 9 of the memory timing settings that the BIOS exposes. I can now POST at DDR 1150 and successfully boot into windows at DDR 1100 ... after extensive testing with 4GB I have settled on DDR 1040 which is stable in windows @ 260x7.. Thats @ 260 clock so now I can attempt to up the Core speed .. :)

And .... I can't get past 470 clock !!! :( Even 470x6 fails .. (2800 Core).

I now know that the RAM will get to DDR 1040 so I now need to figure out why the Clock won't go past 470 ....

Any ideas?

I'm on water, so temps might not be to your (or your proc's) liking, but on 400 (9*400) I use:

VCore 1.4775 DDR2 2.125 (Geil)
MCH 1.33 ICHIO 1.55
CPU VTT 1.23 DDR2 +2%
ICH 1.09 CPU 71%
CPU 71%

Gives me temps of 52' under load since lapping

ok running at 3.6ghz now :D 400x9, 5,5,5,18 timings running fairly stable in vista.

i set the cpu core in the BIOS to 1.415 but whilst all the other voltages say the same in BIOS and uGuru, this one varies between 1.28 and 1.37 in uGuru.

The only system crash at these settings was in 3dmark 05 cpu test when the dragon came out the water. I have run it successfully since but wondered if i need more volts. running 1.23 on the other cpu VTT and 2.2 on the ram, and 1.33 on the MCH. i left the 2 cpu percentages at default 69% and didn't touch the ICHIO southbridge voltage either.

Temps seem good at around 34 degrees immediately after 3d mark.

Thanks for the help - really happy with the 150% overclock :)

I've never bothered using 3dmark for stressing my cpu, preferring instead the standard Prime 95. That way I can see the load temps in real time.

My temps drop to 30' almost immediately the load comes off the proc

RAM is compatible once past initial boot. Some people have had issues with the board only providing 1.8v and the ram wanting 2.1. The way around this is to install just one stick and boot with that. Go into the bios and amend the voltage for the memory then install the rest of the mem.

Asked this in my own spec thread but only one person responded and it seems he wasn't 100% sure.

RAM Compatible?
Yes, when I first built my rig the system powered up fine with 2 of these sticks installed @ 1.8v. You'll need to adjust them to 2.1v in the BIOS if you want to install windows without a hitch

Cooler fits?
Yep, fits well in the IP35-Pro

Thanks.
