**Official ABIT IP-35 Pro Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**

Can someone with an ip-35 pro and e8--- do a quick check and set the power managment to 'high performance' in windows xp/vista and see if the cpu goes to the actual cpu speed using cpu-z etc.

When using the high performance mode the e8400 stay's at 2ghz.

That's with the official 16 bios and the cpu features set to default in the bios ?

I'm just wondering if this is a new feature with the new 45nm cpu's that they only go to full speed when absolutley necessary with speedstep enabled.

I have updated mine about 2hrs ago, and it took about 10yrs off my life, but everything went ok, The temps has change from 127c to 27c in the bios, but coretemp is still the same as it was in bios 1.4, 45c idle.

my god, you mean to say they've actually got off there backsides & finally released a bios update to address the 45nm CPU compatibility issues. i wonder if it finally enables the .5 multi of the E8500?

pathetically slow bios support tbh.
there have been several betas for those who wanted them though.

At least now I can set my cpu fan speeds up now.. but guys double check your cpu voltage thats its reporting the same reading as bois 1.4 did

Ok - is there any way to measure the northbridge temps on the mobo?

Why doesn't uguru have that measurement - is it because the pwm is a good guide?

Perhaps someone can reply with an answer.

I wonder if anybody can help me with an annoying problem!

I'm running Vista x64 and a X-Fi Prelude soundcard, now if I use the onboard Realtek NIC's I get a horrible crackling sound when doing a large transfer to my server.

Now I picked up a Intel PCI-E NIC and if I use that the horrible cracking goes away, problem is I then can't use my Terratec DVB-T card ;)

Anybody got any ideas on how to make the horrible cracking go away when using the onboard NIC's

iam pretty sure if the pci x4 slot is used, then the pci 1x will be disabled
now whats the point in motherboard manufacturers supplying slots if they get disabled
when other slots are used.

i did this kind of research when i was deciding between Gigabyte and Abit:
Gigabyte disables all other PCIex1 when x4 is used.
Abit uses PCI LAN controllers, so all PCIe can be used together.

but im sorry i don't know how to fix your problem

Problems flashing BIOS

Help would be appreciated...

I'm really getting a little fed up.

Trying to flash my BIOS to 16, but I'm having major problems.

Prepped my USB disk, but as soon as I enter the BIOS to increase my VDIMM to 2.1V from the stock 1.8V, it just won't restart. The fans will spin for about 2 secs, then a beeb and then nothing. Wait for another 10 secs repeat and the post code on the mobo goes to 9.0. and then when it does start up it goes to 9.9, but the mem modules are not active and I need to switch it off with the power switch as the display doesn't power up.

I'm only succeeding in booting up from the BIOS at default values, except for I can push the FSB up without a problem and can run the CPU at 3.1 GHz. As soon as I start tinkering with the mem voltage or timings, I run into problems. Even if I change the boot sequence from the defaults, it will still not boot up cleanly the first time.

Memory is Crucail Ballistix Tracer Dual Channel kit PC8500+ 2 x 1GB DIMMS.

Can it be my PSU which is a little light? I'm using a Thermaltake TruePower 560W and running 1 case fan, except for the other normal goodies?

Any advice will be appreciated...

9.9. should mean that the board has completed it's shutdown routine - you shouldn't have anything running with that displayed.

what BIOS is on it atm?

Buff

Just did the flash. Part of the problem was my own stupidity and part could be something with one of the DIMMs of RAM.

Any case, was running 14, but now running 16.

Now time to see what I can get out of this baby. :)

Hmm

Still having problems. I've got a suspicion that it might be the RAM which is a little buggy.

I can't seem to get the system to boot with the RAM at the rated speeds.

DRAM clock 1000 Mhz
Timings 5-5-5-15 with a VDIMM of 2.2V

Dropped the CPU mulitplier to (8) and raised the FSB (anything above 285) and the system is wobbly. Raised Vcore to try and compensate, but just can't get a stable boot. Once booted up, the system is ok, but there is a real issue with booting up.

Has anyone else had problems with the Crucial Ballistix Tracer RAM and this mobo?

Running Prime95 without the memory testing doesn't seem to give me any issues, but as soon as I use the memory test as well, it isn't stable.
