**Official ABIT IP-35 Pro Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**

Buff what's the best BIOS for this board? Started running the final v16 but was told that its beta 4 was better.
as always I think that it varies depending upon what your hardware is (e.g. see below).

Question - I just updated to BIOS 16 and my reported idle temps shot up by 20c! Just downgraded to 14 and they are back down again? What's the craic here? (Idle 32c in 14, 55c in 16!)
it looks like they've been playing with the reported temps for 45nm CPUs but in the process fouled up the 65nm reported temps.

A bit of advise would be appreciated...

Could anyone confirm if they have used either of the following memory modules with success on the Abit IP-35 pro?

Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB) Supplied with Airflow Fan (TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF)

Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB)

Crucial Ballistix Tracer RED 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT25664AR804)

as always I think that it varies depending upon what your hardware is (e.g. see below).

Currently an E2180 whilst I'm waiting for a Q9450 to be delivered.

So far found 16 b04 and 17 b02 to be better than final 16 or 14. Gonna stick with 17 b02 since it's meant to be the best for the 45nm chips.

(that's a guinea pig btw :p)

I used to be able to run my rig @ 3.2ghz with 2gb Corsair Dom. 1066 @ 1068 - stable. 5-5-5-15 then I added more ram........2 sticks of 2.2v and 2 sticks of 2.1v.

With 4 x 1gb Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX I'm at 3.3 or 3.4ghz ~880 on mem (SPD only). I cant boot on 5-5-5-15. Bios 14. vdim @ 2.275 which shows as 2.2v in Everest.

Im happy with 8x425 - 3.4ghz (64c load) and 4x1gb though. Any more from that setup for me will be a new system.

Have you raised the DDR2 Reference voltage option to +2% or whatever the option is? It's meant to make a big difference when running 4 sticks.

Got this board with 6750 and 2Gb Corsair CL4 ram in it. Sweet upgrade from hot and loud prescott 3.4GHz!!! :D One little thing is annoying me, the pause in the boot sequence to show that the DVD-Rom is on the JMicron controller.

Is there a way to disable the delay, it's only a couple of seconds but why show it at all?

Apart from this I have one other little question. If you use uGuru to OC and select the "Turbo" option it puts 1.5V through the cpu. Is this much juice needed. I've seen lots of much higher OCs with lower cpu voltages. Haven't had much time to try other settings myself yet, thought I'd get your (why does it change "u r" to **???) wisdom first... one more... there are % settings at the end of the uGuru settings that I have no clue about (one other reason I haven't OC'd manually) any info on what they do?

Hi all,
You'll see from my sig that I have this board. I have a WD 150 gb raptor and an IDE Pioneer DVD drive. This jmicron message pause during boot up is annoying. Despite searching I've been unable to find where in the bios I can disable it. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I swear I looked at all bios settings earlier and couldn't find it. Thanks Cob, I'll take a look LATER. I must be going blind in my old age.

Edit, blind it is, there it was...doh!

Ive just bought a pack of floppy disks to do my future bios updating with. I think everyone should have a usb floppy drive cos they come in so handy. I have a usb floppy drive with card reader.

I narrowed it down to one stick that didn't want to play ball in 8gb. So I sold two sticks and ordered another two. Should be with me on Monday, so I'll have a better idea of the craic then. If I'm still having problems then I will go for the G.Skill. The Abit forums are reporting them as being fine for 8gb.

Thanks

If you disable the JMicron controller you will lose the IDE drive... it is controlled by the JMicron controller. The only solution is to get a sata optical drive... you will also lose the eSata port.
