**Official ABIT IP-35 Pro Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**

hey up,

i removed my tracer 8500's as quickly as i fitted them, bsod's and all sorts with them for me on this mobo, that was with 4 x 1 gb 8500's tracers.

Back with my gskill 6400hz's and no problems what so ever :D

Buff

Tried various ratios, but I'll have another play around with it tonight and check what I'm getting.

I know that I've tried at default (1.1.5) (FSB of 333) and the CPU mulitplier at 8 (Clock speed of 2.4 GHz) resulting in a memory speed of 999 MHz with the timings 5-5-5-15 and it won't boot. Am I correct in thinking that it should be able to function at this speed?

Also tried with 1:1.25 and an FSB of 300 and again problems booting up.

As I'm a bit (actually not just a bit) of a noob, am I correct in assuming that I should be running the memory in dual channel mode?

What memory are you using Buff and what do you suggest?

can anyone tell me what the SM Bus Controller is? and if there's a vista x64 driver for it? (i'm guessing it something to do with the mobo's intel chipset)

Ok...now running a 1:1 CPU:RAM divider

FSB 333 MHz
CPU Clock 3GHz
VCore 1.4 V
Temps 37
Memory timings 5-5-5-15
VDimm 2.175V
RAM Speed 668 MHz

System stable....now to up the FSB!

Isn't that something to do with µGuru, you just need the driver.

no, uguru's up and running fine, and showing in device manager as 'uGuru Micro-Processor'

got it working now, it was the intel chipset, the...

INTEL Chipset Driver v 8.3.1.1009 for 2000/XP/2003/64bit - 11th September 07

from the OP, its for all current vista versions, if someone could update its description i'm sure it would help someone

Hi there,

I've updated all the drivers listed to fully show which operating systems they are for, it was a good point. :)

Also I've listed a new version for:-

JMicron SATA Driver V 1.17.33 for 2000 / XP / XP 64bit / 2003 / 2003 64bit / Vista 32bit / Vista 64bit - 8th April 08 *NEW*

thinking about upgrading to second hand Abit iX38 QuadGT. i think i can do the upgrade if i just add £10. can i hope i can sell my iP35 Pro for £80??

is it worth the upgrade? where is the thread on x38 quadGT on here?

the only real benefit to X38 is the dual x16 PCI-E 2.0 slots for gfx.
If you don't do Crossfire there is no point.

Has anyone managed to get 8gb running in the IP35 Pro? Or any 4 sticks for that matter?

Got one of these today and I've just spent the last 3 hours unsuccessfully attempting to get 8gb booting on it. It's two 2x2gb OCZ Platinum XTC PC2-8000 kits (probably the exact same as the ReaperX kit and the G.Skill version). I'm testing them with a stock speed E2180 @ 1.3v (VID is 1.25v), and the memory only running at 800mhz 2T with the timings on Auto.

I've tried all 24 combinations of sticks and slots at both 2.1v and 2.2v, MCH voltage on 1.52v, and the other voltages bumped up a couple of notches.

POST codes have varried between C1, 05 and 0d, and I'm running BIOS 16.

Any three sticks run fine together in all slots, and all 8gb ran fine in my Gigabyte P35 DS3P.

got ya. i won't upgrade then, it's too much hassle.

Cob, im using 4x1GB OCZ Platinum rev2 PC2-6400, no problem here, tryed BIOS 16 and 14

Right I've been trying for another 3 hours this morning and I think I've narrowed it down to one stick, tho the issue only shows up with all four sticks in.

With all 8gb installed and the stick in slot 1 I always get a 'C1' POST code, in slot 2 it gives '11', slot 3 gives 'C1' again, and slot D gives '0d'. Moving the other three sticks around the slots makes no difference.

All 4 sticks pass Memtest on thier own. I'd love to test them in pairs, but the board won't pass POST with my SATA DVD drive connected with more than one stick installed

Three Gigabyte boards over two years and not a single issue. Less than 24 hours with what is supposed to be the best P35 board around, and I'm ready to throw it out the window :(

yes, to both (not me personally but lots of people on abit USA forum have 4 DIMMs running & more than a few have 8GB).

I've posted over at Abit, and it does seem that a few people have got 8gb of the OCZ Reaper running fine. And it's the exact same memory as the Platinum version (as is the G.Skill version).

I've decided I'm only going to keep one of the kits anyway.

Buff what's the best BIOS for this board? Started running the final v16 but was told that its beta 4 was better.

I'm running 4 sticks of OCZ, 4GB. No probs.

Question - I just updated to BIOS 16 and my reported idle temps shot up by 20c! Just downgraded to 14 and they are back down again? What's the craic here? (Idle 32c in 14, 55c in 16!)
