***official amd 83x0 overclocking thread***

my friend talks about minning i kinda get it i say kinda lol

i dnt know a great deal about the whole computing world tbh i dont mean to sound rude or insult anyone but i never thought this would be my thing i used to ride moto cross but a injury forced me to quit i was at a m8's one day he was on pc and i said so whats it all about we talked i surprisingly became intrested and the rest is history so to speak

so its why i ask whats this and that where as you guys proberly think come on dude i have been on this whole scene since 2012 as friend said sign up on here but only been into in a big way since crimbo just gone and now i cant walk away from it

thats why i ask simplest of questions i really dnt know much YET! i learn quick

very nice results indeed im going for it but before i do what cooling are you using cause my socket is way over 60 already at 4.8 i have a intake on back of mobo but not helping really how do u keep your socket so cool?

or is it youer mobo is better with the heat?

Much of my testing were done on the M5A99X Evo rev 1.0. the cooling initially was a TRUE 120mm by thermalright but upgraded to a Phanteks with two 140mm fans.

My case is an old Lian Li 1000v with two 120mm fans, one intake, one exhaust, nothing fancy. Pic shows M5A99X mobo, now replaced with crosshair,

I took the cpu to 67-68C on occasion but always benched where possible within 62-63C. Throttling started above 70C

Having built all that in your system you've learnt more than most already ;)

Overclocking on these CPUs once you get to 4.5GHz is mostly fun I think, to see how high you can get stable. If you're hitting 5GHz clocks though, even in the worst performing games on AMD you'll be doing fine.

thanks dude i am a qualified mechanic with a motor sport degree so tinkering and taking things apart are in my blood i took this up as something to do while i recovered from injury but i think i may like this more now lol :D

Mechanical background and common sense = win win here!

I got my degree in computer science ages back and went a different path with the first job I applied for, main thing is we share knowledge and have similar interests - enjoy life while you can.

precisely we all aim for same goal in the end regaurdless on the team you rep you dont see that on may forums thats why i choose to stay with this one

My degree's Classics, very competent in Latin and ancient Greek, with particular interest in Latin poetry. Doesn't tend to come in useful here :p
