never done encoding so dont know if this is good or not lol

plus does ram affect this? as mine is pants lol :p

It's hard to say without comparisons as it depends on the settings etc. But an 8320 at 4.8GHz will be far ahead of an i5 in things like this, at any clock. I think I've managed about 20fps in 1080p high quality encoding in Handbrake on 4770K @ 4.3GHz, the 8320 at 4.8-5GHz would beat it.

Your higher FSB could be causing the lock ups. You seemed to have no problems before.

set back to just multi x24 giving 4.8 lowered cpu/nb back to 2200mhz ht link @ 2600mhz so as i was when i was benching and im getting lock ups been ok for past 2 days ram is at 1600mhz dnt know whats going on?

any ideas guys :confused::confused:

maybe you weren't really stable before.
more vcore

Check your 8 pin 12v plug/socket as well just incase the connector has started burning out.

when resetting cpu/nb i thought i lowered it but put it up panic over lol went to reset defaults and i see it rushing in bios lol.

not had much luck up to 5 ghz temps went crazy hit 67 socket 51 core maybe a 360 rad needed?

Higher clocks + more vcore = more heat
Get used to it or get out of the kitchen :)

Glad you sorted out your crashing.
They really don't like high NB speeds.

I am making a bit of progress with the WC kit.
Had to take the CPU block apart to fit the AMD bracket and had a hard time with the impossible to fit back in o ring.
I sussed out the technique in the end.
It is a bit late now to start drilling holes in the case to fit the RAD and the reservoir etc.

I thought 62 on the core was the max? If I've read that right you've got loads of room to play with! ;)

There are vague limits people say, some say 60, 62, 70. Certainly anything under 60 is ok.

Have you done any overclocking yet? I think you went for an 8320?

62 0n core is max m8 im only 51 on core

i was 67 on socket which is safe upto 70 according to amd :D

im thinking of push/pull on rad atm im only pull with gentle typhoons want to see if it has an impact will fit tomorrow and see what temps do

A fat 240 better be big enough or I will a bit miffed :(

Nah not yet mate, got the 8320 but been messing about with my SSD, fresg install so setting everything back up etc. Boring stuff. Looking forward to getting started though.

I did do a quick cinebench run earlier as a marker, completely standard, score of 6.04 :( lol

It's because you're not getting even stock boost, so you're at a fairly unimpressive 3.5GHz :)
