Had a bit of a result today. Well, I think I have.
Basically I have a Asrock 990FX Extreme 3 that went pop. I phoned the company I bought it from and they said order another and send back the one I have and they'll send me a refund. Thing is, since I ordered it (for £89) other boards have dropped in price. This time around I don't need SLI support (and I can hack it to work any way, tried and tested on 16x 4x) so I found this.

For £59. So I asked the company for a refund (sorted, they've sent me return labels) and ordered the Asus.
Now looking at it it's got one hell of a VRM heatsink. I highly doubt it's 4+1 (the Asrock was, which is why I wanted to try something else) but it could be 6+2? I need to do more digging but hey, I have a £30 surplus so I'll get that back in my pocket and some one just offered me a 4890 1gb (so a second one for Crossfire) for postage as the fan on it is broken. Easy ten minute fix.
Edit. OK Asus are honest, that's good. It's 4+2. But at least it has VRM cooling as the Asrock did not. And it's cheaper. And it's Asus. So I'm still well chuffed.
