Farmerboy mate would you mind changing my details on the first page.
The system is:
8320 @ 4.8 GHz 24/7 at 1.44Vcore. Able to achieve 5.15 GHz stable at 1.53V
Cooling: Custom water with D5 pump/res, Phobya Xtreme 200mm rad and EK waterblock
Temps: max 59C package using LinX 20 cycles
Board is now Crosshair V Formula Z and this doesn't throttle the CPU.
Thanks![]()
OK, who's turn is it to post on 8 packs sub-forum to plead for a OC guide he's almost finished?![]()
Nice. Only asking as we all know he doesn't have to do it and he's a busy world record setter. I asked in the forum and there has been no response for almost a week. Seems a promising guide, am intrigued to see what he has done.
I had 4.2ghz on my 990FX Extreme 3 which I believe is pretty much the same power wise.
That was all it would do and I needed a H100 to do it. H50 will not get that far IMO. You may just about scrape a full 8 core 4ghz.
Ok, I might give it a tweak to 4.2 in the BIOS.
Im using Core temp to monitor, is that a good choice?
My 8350 At 4Ghz with the H50 im Idling at 9c and when under load gaming and live streaming im hitting around 45c - Im not very good meausuring temps, for re-assurance, is this ok?

Although coretemp is good with my Intel CPUs, I found that with the 8320, it is a bit erratic. Not sure what it is measuring to be honest only one reading is shown and on idle it is <10C. Is this socket or package temp?
I have found HWMonitor better.
Not sure if its Socket or Packet, I might try HWmonitor if Coretemp is a bit erratic, I'll report back.
OK so with ram in and extreme settings I got 5.2ghz. It wasn't stable enough to run Cinebench though no matter how much voltage. It just threw up errors.
It then froze during Firestrike Physics test. I did get a solid 5ghz with the ram running 1800mhz and got 770 in Cinebench (no screenshot as I wanted to push higher).
Sadly the ram is only 4gb (but it was very cheap for what it is, £20 for 2133 extreme memory) so I can't leave it in my rig. My lady will be getting it along with a new laptop lol..
