This will really depend on the game(s) played.

I hope Andy has Crysis 3 so we can get some proper 8-core utilisation testing.

Regardless of the games in a generic sense, it would be good to work out the sweet spot for people to purchase. I agree testing these cores is next on the agenda! :)
 
Got my last bits on-route before assembling my first build, so far have:

Corsair 500r
Corsair AX850
H100i (hoping to get push/pull with scythe slip stream slims)
Fx 8320
Asus crosshair V formula Z
Samsung 840 evo 250gb ssd
2 x seagate 3tb hdd
Samsung optical drive
Nzxt sentry 2 fan controller
Aula gaming series keyboard, mouse and mat
2 x Kingston hyperx 1600 4gb


And now just waiting on 4 x scythe typhoons and a hd 7950 (just to tide me over until the non-reference 290x come to market)


Getting very excited now and will log my build on here when I start it..!
 
Yeah that'll be a nice rig :)

I scored 792 in Cinebench. I'll install Windows 7 tomorrow with the hot fixes I think and see how it goes :)
 
Unless there has been some hotfix to win7 in the last week or so, my Cinebench result (posted in the cinebench thread) was on Win7 around 2 weeks ago.

Can't replicate it in 8.1 mainly because the CPU will not play above 5GHz on the latter OS. I am baffled by the reasons but it just isn't as stable as win7 ultimate.
 
I got 792 last night on 8 with that stupid fast ram.

So no change really (well, 1 point higher than before). I'm having issues in 8 because I had to disable the Windows update. Erm, how do I say it.. My OS isn't, erm, paid for.

When I bought my Alienware Area 51 ALX chassis it had a 7 Ultimate COA on it. So I'll put that on and see how I go. I really don't need Win 8 headaches trying to run Crossfire (I'm actually scared of AMD's drivers lol but I want the bone crunching performance of a 7990).

I know that my 3dmark 13 scores are going to go down but ho hum.
 
Hmm I just checked and said vendor has just pulled the offer with free PSU. Looking at my order I hope they don't use it as an excuse not to sent it with the GPU. The invoice says nothing about a free PSU.
 
But when I clicked on add to cart it was definitely there. I'm being blind and can't see how to view my account on their site. If it isn't there on monday when it arrives, there will be phone calls!
 
I think they edited the price before the listing dude. Simple admin error really..

Ok I tried to ring them just now but part timers close at 5.30pm. Sent a webnote to them to say to cancel it unless the PSU is included. I would normally not go for an XFX GPU but that deal was good...until they pulled it stealthily.
