You don't really have to worry about the GPU. It's not an XFX it's just this -



With three brushed alu stickers in place of the AMD ones on the fan centres.

The 7990 official is like Titan. Basically made by AMD, don't do anything more than put your branding on it by means of small stickers.

It was only free when you paid £470 for the GPU, so in theory it wasn't really free lol.

I don't mind because I need a spare PSU any way, I have a feeling the Alienware's could be blown.
 
I see now Andy. So even without the PSU, it is the cheapest 7990 in the land and with 3 free games. Got nothing against Xfx personally. My gtx260 was Xfx and it was great. Just their rma was meant to be poor but I guess we deal with the retailer directly anyway.

No no don't butter it up mate. XFX suck nuts tbh. OCUK won't even stock them.. However this time? it's just an AMD card in their box so I can live with it.

I had an XFX 280 XXX die on me (the driver that stopped the fan) and they screwed me on the replacement. Mind you, the 5770s I had worked with no issues...

But yeah, in this instance it really doesn't matter whose card you buy. You get more warranty elsewhere but 2 years is enough for me.

Did a little more testing with win 8.1.

I got the CPU stable at 5.25 GHz but it needs silly volts (1.59V) to achieve this.

Here's Cinebench on this clock. The sad thing is that at this voltage my watercooling setup just isn't enough for sustained work (temps go up to 72 on the CPU) so I only did one run.

On win 7 ultimate I can reach similar clocks at 1.53-1.54V.

Memory I ran with this was G skill rijaws Z at 1866 MHz 8-9-9-27. If I use my trident X sticks at 2400MHz I think I could get close to 829 on cinebench (which I got in win7 at 5.15GHz). In fact, if I can be bothered to install win7 ultimate again and push the CPU I think she'll go 5.3/5.4 GHz within the limits of this watercooling setup for benching.

 
I am just accepting in my head how cheap that is. I want first dibs if you ever plan on selling on you two!!!

If I hadn't just splashed £500 on a new core I would be sneaking that one in past the mrs.
 
Well as far as gaming goes, I'm ready. I mean Mantle.... I want, Mantle....

Packing for me today. I'm off to my mother's tomorrow and then Monday I meet with my landlord to sign contracts etc.
 
I'm definitely not getting a new PSU with the 7990 :(. Barstewards! Arriving monday.

8-pack: I have material from a while ago yeah. I never finished it due to other comitments such as product launches, my systems, comps, exhibitions etc etc. I need to test more before I post really as its incomplete.

I understand you guys point and frustrations. Less and less these days do I get chance to manage my own work load. Its more a case of needs must.
