***Official AMD Mantle Thread***

You're confused by what I've said. I am not criticising AMD, I am criticising people like you who rubbished me and others who said that mantle would not last as a going concern, that new versions of DX and opengl would overtake it.

Exactly, many of us predicted such a fate for mantle and it turns out we were right.

Mantle is dead, even AMD say so:
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2015/03/03/amd-retires-mantle/1

Wasted effort from AMD and wasted effort form developers who supported it really.

When are Greg, Andy et al going to apologise for constantly claiming Mantle would never go to Khronos, would never be open etc etc? :D

Show me once where I said Mantle would not go to Khronos, just once please. Where the hell do you get this crap?

Now if you want to say that "Greg and others predicted Mantle would die whilst it was locked to AMD", you can probs find loads of them.

Nah, I'm sure they've learned a lot about what an API needs, and porting any Mantle code over to DX12 shouldn't be too hard. Porting code over to Vulkan may not be all that hard either.

Wait till Thursday chaps, then I'll answer (as best i can) any questions you have. :)

So come on Matt what's the long and short of it? What can we expect from AMD's Mantle going forward. I trust their not going to give up on it, they may not have the resources of Nvidia or Intel but they have all the console market tied up and are in a perfect place to roll it out if they can sell the idea to developers.

Hi Freddie,

Rob Hallock has written two blogs that should give you an indication of what the future has in store for Mantle.

One of Mantles Futures: Vulkan
On APIs and the future of Mantle

Recorded using the AMD Gaming Evolved APP - DVR.

Plants Vs Zombies
Team Classic Vanquish

Ultra Preset + x4AA
Mantle API

Matt no offence but that is utterly overkill for that game, show us something a bit more impressive

Why? The point was to show game recording working flawlessly with QuadFire at 4K under Mantle.

Check out my youtube channel if you want to see something more impressive.

Hello, everyone.

I'm pleased to announce that the Mantle API Reference documentation is now available for download:

This 450-page programming guide and API reference provides developers with a detailed look at the capabilities and architecture of the Mantle graphics API.
