*** Official AMD Phenom II X6 1055T & 1090T Overclocking Thread ***

just rung home - prime95 is still running sweet as pie - muhahaha :) - its been running since 7PM yesterday so thats like17 hours of prime stability so far.

I'm VERY impressed with these results - I'll have a mess with my case and fan combo's later tonight to bring the temps down (antec 902 btw!)

Its currently @ 60Degrees C - which is within the CPU threshold - I only managed to hit 68Degrees C yesterday because I applied 1.45v vcore and 1.4v to the CPU-NB so don't worry fellas as its currently priming using only 1.42v and 1.3v CPU-NB.

Strictly speaking you'd expect the 1090T's to have a higher max limit... but I guess that assumes AMD have actually produced any 6 core chips that couldn't have been binned as 1090T. For all I know, the only reason some get binned lower is for marketing O_o

And due to there sometimes not being enough lower quality parts.

Afternoon All

OK mine is up and running (after heart attack as mentioned in other thread)

Now I know your all gonna say Boo Hiss Yahhhh Poo ... but Im just starting to test cpu and Im using AMD Overdrive to do so within Win7 x64 so if ya dont like it ... tough titties get ya own chip then :p .. only kidding of course

The max overclock allowed in Overdrive is to set multi to 18X which results in a clock of 3.6Ghz but this also leaves Turbo Core enabled ...

Not hopeful of a great overclock as using a beta BIOS on the Gigabyte UD5P which needs a bit of work ... fan speeds not being reported and simple stuff like that

But those who want a minor clock and hassle free ... Overdive ups the clock to 3.6Ghz stable with Turbo still on and on stock volts so far

Temps @ 3.6 - Core 38C - TMPIN0 = 39C (board) - TMPIN1 = 45C-46C stress testing with prime95

will do some more after a resonable test on these settings

Cozzy

EDIT : forgot to mention I upped Turbo core setting to a 20X multipler but yet to test individual cores at that

Hi

Turbo Core is in BIOS as Enable/Disable option

Turbo Core is also in AMD Overdrive where you can set the Multipler for it ..

I should upload some pics somewhere but not done so yet ... Overdrive allows a max 18X multipler but if you click the Turbo Core Control button you can up the Turbo Multipler on top of the main mutiplier ..

reports here .. cpu @3.6GHz .. Turbo Core Control @ 4Ghz with CPU VID of 1.4750v to get that target  current volts at stock CPU VID 1.3v

clear as mud .. lmao

Cozzy

hope this works not done it for years .... as the actress said to the bishop

actually i downloaded the new version of overdrive released today .. was posted on here somewhere .. did that before the X6 arrived but dont remember seeing the Turbo Core Control option with 965 cpu before but then I wasnt looking

EDIT and update ... having moved the Turbo Core Control to a 20X multipler I can now up the normal all core multipler beyond 18X ...

Now upped to 19X for all cores so running 3.8Ghz on stock volts of CPU VID 1.3v and prime95 continues ( didnt stop it ) temps WMPIN1 now 46C edging 47C

Kind of thought that would be the case. Seems odd to stop it at 18x if its meant to be an unlocked processor.

Also being an amateur with overclocking, what would people say is better and more effective? Just upping the multiplier or increasing the voltage etc and everything else.

I mean one must be more 'damaging' for the proc than the other or am I just being stupid?
