*** Official AMD Phenom II X6 1055T & 1090T Overclocking Thread ***

Ok here's my latest and possibly final effort.

Have dropped down from 4Ghz to 3.9ghz so that I could drop the voltage a tad. Seems rock solid as well with 1.45 volts

Also tightened up the timings for the ram etc, and they are now in Dual mode :)

Hey saxon, can't you raise your north bridge a tad bit? I'm kind of spoiled by the 1090T and it's unlocked multies so not sure how you would that with a 1055T. upping HT and lowering RAM freq maybe?

Nice clock anyway and good to see you got your memory back to dual channel

and gareth, here's my Vdroop on the loose LOL

there're Vcore spikes even idling

you just scared the **** out of me man. how bad is it? it's too late to RMA my mobo now. and yes, it's a freakin ASUS (see sig)
don't worry mate. most motherboard do that. if everything is stable it's fine.

but gigabyte have seem to of sloved this issue on they amd boards, but not intel boards

Yeah I can change the NB. However, I'm not sure how far my MB will take it? If you can tell me what my MB can take then I will try and raise it. I kept it under or around 2200 to be safe.

My memory is at about 1488mhz or something like that. I tried to get it to 1600 by lowering the multiplier to x10 and then raising the CPU Frequency, but it wouldn't boot, so I'm stuck at 1488mhz. Not to worry though, as it's seems fine as it is.

Will raising the NB have any benefits for me?

I'm not sure what the benefits of raising the NB are to be honest :p.
Some of the savvy members around here might want to answer that.
I just got it as high as I could. you know, once you get to overclock... hehe

it improves memory & L3 cache performance

if your using 1600mhz ram u need the CPU-NB to be atleast 2400mhz......

also is your ram voltage/timings set right?

Well my NB is currently at 2240mhz and it seems to be fine, stable etc.

The volts for the memory are those recommended for the ram, i.e 1.65 volts. I'm currently on a x14 clock ration with a frequency of 280 which is giving me a 3.920 Ghz overclock, but the memory is stuck 2240mhz. If I drop the multiplier to 10 etc and up the frequency I can get 1600mhz with the ram, but then the system won't boot.

So I'm kind of guessing it's just best to leave things as they are?

So how good are these X6's?! Had a quick look around and you all seem to be getting a good OC on them. I am building a new system just now, whats the best Mobo/Ram combo to get the most out these new chips?

Trying to decide between these and Intel :p

gigabyte 800 series board, 1600mhz ram

a 1090t should easyly do 4ghz. a 1055t is slightly harder.

i would change the motherboard to a Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H AMD 880G (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard [GA-880GA-UD3H] due to no vdroop

That the one with the integrated chipset? If so that looks like a pretty good system.

If I was to stretch to the full £1000 would it be worthwhile going a bit futher on the Mobo? And also would you say the RAM is ok?

do u mean integrated gpu? if so yes

next best board is the fx board.

ram is fine.

I also would recommend a different board.
The Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H that Gareth has already mentioned would be be a good choice.

You have chosen a board without any cooling on the VRM's, that is not a good idea with an OC'd hex core.

Dependent on your choice of heatsink you may find that the reapers are too tall.
Quite a few heatsinks will encrouch into the area above the ram slots and with the reapers having that handle on top there wont be enough clearence.
