** Official Antec Kuhler Owners' Thread **

Hey guys, are you on the 620? If so, the 620 controls fan speed by liquid temperature.

The 920 obviously has the ChillControl software.

Is it fine to then connect the two fans to the CPU header and the Kuhler to another fan header that gives the full whack? I assume the fans will adjust speed according to CPU Temp and not liquid temp though?

Two parts:

1. You can connect the pump to whatever header you like. Just be certain that it's set to run at 100%

2. You can connect two PWM fans to the CPU fan header to get them to throttle based on CPU temperature instead of liquid temperature. Certainly. This assumes you've configured the BIOS to do so.

Thanks for the reply Antec_Jessie :)
Just wanted to make sure it wouldn't hinder or damage the Kuhlers performance if the fans weren't connected directly to it.

I'd just like to say that after a few days use now, I'm still really happy with my purchase of the 620 plus Viper fans in push/pull.

I have the pump connected to a 12v fan header, and the fans connecting to the CPU header using a PWM splitter. I have an i5 750 clocked at 3.80GHz using 1.268v. I've set my PWM fans in the BIOS to run at 50% at idle (can't hear them), and 100% at 90°C.

Whilst surfing the net and general desktop use, my four cores hover around 30°C. When gaming they peak at around 55°C, and when stressing with IBT or P95 they never exceed 65°C.

Oh yeah - looks great too :D

Great to hear!!
Still waiting for my Vipers :( I thought Royal mail first class was meant to be 1-2 days but its been over 3! Ahh I wanna break open the case and get fanning :P

I'm contemplating getting this cooler as it seems to offer substantially better performance than Corsair H50 and is up there with the top air coolers.

My Zalman CNPS10X Extreme is quite noisy at full load in prime95 now and my CPU needs quite a bit of voltage for 4GHz (around 1.35v Vcore and 1.3 VTT).

Would you recommend this sealed water-cooling unit as a decent replacement for my current cooler?

I'm after a quiet experience thus fan change would be a must. Does Antec Kuhler work best in push-pull configuration?

I've got a Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000rpm here that is a PWM fan and could get another one that costs £6-12 if needed. The Antec Kuhler 620 would cost me £44.

What do you lot think?

Whisper quiet? or silent enough your computer dies out to normal volume for a TV?

Are you sure? I have those same fans and they are not PWM. Thats my only gripe with them. The modular Sharkoon SE is PWM however. It's not a 2000rpm fan though.

Well, I have a SilverStone RV02 with 3 x 180mm fans running at 5v. On paper, these produce 19dB each. With my Vipers at 1000rpm, I can't hear them over the 180mm's. At 1200rpm I can, just.

With the current set-up, I could happily watch TV and not be disturbed.

The fact that the H50 is on offer for £40 at the moment makes that very tempting but I'm still highly tempted to invest in the Kuhler as well

:confused::confused:

Guys with Vipers!

Got mine today, i've never had a fan with these odd anti vibrational things.. I can't see them being used with regards to the radiator..

I'm guessing you other Viper uses have just used normal screws overall?

Cheers

Yup, ignored them David. I had 4 spare 'long' screws from a previous build, so managed to fit both fans nice and easily.

Good luck ;)

How did you guys install the Kuhler without breaking the plastic? iv heard about many scenarios where the plastic has broken. I think it was the plastic bracket or something.

Installed!

Kuhler is plugged into Power_fan (Or something like that) and the two Vipers are on a splitter which is powered by molex from PSU and connected them to mobo via the CPU Fan header.

I've not noticed a huge difference yet but they are quiet!
I suppose I need to sort out airflow in this case.. I have 3 intakes at the front, the Kuhler radiator with Vipers intaking from the back and the large Fractal fan outtaking via top (but this seems like a rather pointless fan).

I tried the Vipers and radiator blowing out of the back and temps rose a few C's so i'm confused if its okay having so many intakes and one outtake.

Suppose I may have to make a thread on airflow.
