** Official Antec Kuhler Owners' Thread **

Antec Kuhler (620) owner signing in :)

Standard fan as PUSH, and stock Lian-Li 120mm fan as PULL behind radiator.

Seems to hold my 920 @ 4.1GHz around 30ºc-35ºc idle (depending on ambient), and loads at just under 70ºc with Prime95.

Are you not experiencing a lot of noise from the stock fan? Even when idle and turning on from cold? I suppose I should get onto Antec support!

Nope, it might just be me comparing to my old tuniq 120 extreme, but the Antec is very quiet in comparison.

The Antec is only a stopgap for my i7 until my custom watercooling arrives, but I've been pleasantly surprised.

I have a akasa apache for the front of my case i might actually swap that for the kulher fan and see if that makes a difference.

So here's my new setup. Under prolonged full load at 4.0GHz, temps are ~73°C @ 1.337v. Previous Zalman 9900NT was ~86°C!

Very happy with my purchase so far :D

I fitted the Kuhler on Friday. Very happy so far. The stock fan is amazingly loud for me though on full load. I was suprised that it could not be controlled tbh. I have ordered another Apache so i will be using two with it.

I didn't really have much of a problem fitting it, but did anyone else think that the instructions were awful? I was pretty much making it up half the time!

A quick question, because Apaches are 4-pin pwm, i have attatched the Kuhler to the power header instead of the cpu fan header. I will have the fans attached to the cpu and chassis header so that they can be controlled. Does this sound ok?

cheers:)

Yes - USELESS!!

Sounds good to me, although you could get a PWM splitter and have both fans plugged into the CPU header then. This way, you can be sure that they'll be running at exactly the same speed.

I do have a splitter actually so i probably will use that.:)

The only problem that i have now is that i have it so that it is exhausting out the back of my case, as i tried it the other way but it didn't work at all. But the radiator is blocking the possibility of a top 200mm fan and a side 200mm fan, which is a shame because if i had a side 200mm fan it would be blowing directly onto whre it is pulling air from:(
I might be able to have a 200mm fan at the top as an intake instead of exhaust, but i don't know how it will work.
Case is the NZXT Phantom btw.

PS. Apache on full is nowhere near as loud as the stock fan on low.

I ordered my Vipers and splitter yesterday.. Exciting!

Great pics there jmp_78! :D

Welcome to the family!
I'm glad it wasn't only me who finds the stock fan loud, like the whole speed control thing isn't doing a thing. So mines on a controller and another quiet fan is plugged into the Kuhler..

The instructions were awful, this was my first ever build too so coming as a total newbie then having that scary bit of kit with confusing instructions left me bewildered for a good hour while trawling the net for pics, videos and instructions..

My current case setup involves a front 120mm fan sucking air in, a top 140mm exhaust fan and a rear 120mm exhaust fan (have a 2500k with stock intel cooler atm).

If I was to get the Kuhler 620, would the best way to set it up to keep all the fans as they are, except change the rear fan to pull air in over the Kuhler rad and into the case (prob push/pull setup)? My thinking is that the hot air should then get sucked out by the top 140mm exhaust fan. Sound about right or do people tend to have a different setup?

Case is Antec 100 gaming case for reference, see here

In the instructions it is recommended that it is set up so that it exhausts out of the back. :)
I tried it with the push/pull pulling air in from outside bringing it inot the case, but temps went up quite a bit so i have changed it back to recommended. If you have good airflow, i think it would work best this way. My airflow is not the best, but i will improve it a lot in the coming days.
Is this how everyone else has it set up? exhausting out the back

I am waiting for the 920 to come in stock, I was originally waiting for the 620 but due to stock issues I paid the difference and upgraded to the 920.

Does anybody at OCUK know when stock is going to arrive?

Stoner81.

Thanks, I do like it, but its not quite as quiet as id like...... Ive still got my megahalems so might try that, currently got two vipers on the Khuler, any other recommendations? maybe i should just try one fan?

Do you have the fans on 12v or pwm? If it's on pwm just use speedfan to keep the noise down :)

If you are on 12v, then get a fan splitter to run them both of the motherboard's CPU fan header. It's nice and quiet then.

Ive got them on the mobo pwm via a splitter like you say, ive got the bios set to silent but not sure what that sets the rpm too
