*Official* Antec P182 Case's,Builds,Modifications & FAQ's

I bought a kit around £5 from a competitor was a pain in the *** to fit and it still isn’t right as the sides of the case are so thick and the rubber for the seal is designed for an aluminium case it will need to be ground down on the inside but I am going to leave that till next weekend if I spend any more time on it this week I will be heading for a divorce.

very easy to cut with a cheap jigsaw drilling the pilot hole was the worst bit as the metal plate started to bend from the preasure but slowly slowly catchy monkey as they say and the window will has taken say an hour to get to this point maybe another hours work to get it fitted perfectly A very easy mod as long as you dont mind taking a power tool to your computer i guess. I hope this helps make sure you post some pics of your case when you are done

i suppose it could have but the inside of my case doesnt have that many fans and they are all yate loons i have high cfm fans on the rear rad which i am going to 7v mod at some point but at the moment they are the loudest bit of my rig so i cant tell as yet but first impressions wous be that it should be slightly louder unless the triple layer case thing was a load of **** but what the hey i can see my loops whenever i want and check flows etc without opening the case so i am pleased.

Yes it does blow in, personally I am going to remove the top fan and not replace it, just going to use the cases top grill as a natural exit for hot air as it rises. With two front fans blowing cool air into the case, and the remaining one 120mm fan at the rear, the case is going to be much cooler..

Looking forward to seeing pic's of your new case.

That top fan is meant to take warm/hot air out of the case and if you have it pushing air down into the case then you have it upside down.

Love the look of this case, shame they don't do a black case with black interior

I'm about there with my new system spec http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17836994

My only concern is my GFX card.
BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)
Will I have to remove the middle HD Bay so there's air movement all around the card and the door fan opposite can blow on it?

Any advice on this and my machine spec from the link would be gratefully appreciated.
Any other alternative components I should consider?
Will I require any extra fans or cabling to keep it all tidy and if so what.

Thanks for your help guys. Wanna get this ordered asap :D

I was wondering, could anyone tell me if there's much difference between having 2 fans in the middle bay? You know, there's space for one against the door and one attached to the hdd bay.. I currently have fans in both of these places, but could use one somewhere else.. Would it make much difference taking one of them out (and which one should I take out?) or is it beneficial to leave both of them in there?

Well, no, I was gonna take one out and stick it on a gfx card heatsink instead, just making sure I'm not going to drastically cut the airflow in the case or anything. Which one is recommended to leave in anyway, the one closest the door or the one on the hdd rack?

New Rig

Here's my new rig.
Just a few things left to do like add a couple of fans and finish tidying up the cabling. After that it's just a matter of getting the OS on and connecting the 500gb SATA storage drive which I hope to get done over the weekend.

Tidied the cabling and installed two new fans. OS is on and everything is running sweet. :D

Just ordered one of these, and was wondering about the fans.

Does the case come with all fans present? And what is the quality of the fans like? My main concern is noise.

Thanks :)

The standard 3 fans shipped with the P182 are fans are Antec TriCool fans and have a cable with a switch attached to change between low, medium and high. Airflow on low is pretty much inaudible and is enough to keep air moving, e.g. in the bottom bay where modern discs and PSU should not generate much heat.

Airflow on high is good but the volume is too high so you'd be better off with a specialist fan, e.g. Scythe Kama PWM 120mm. Airflow on medium is somewhere in between (sorry, that sounds a bit obvious).

I left the two standard fans in the top, replaced the bottom fan and added one to the front. Together with the Tuniq cooler they all run on medium setting and the airflow is good, the noise is minimal and it keeps everything in the case nice and cool. No problems so far and my machine was on all day yesterday.

I've replaced all my fans with Yate Loons and just strapped 2 of the tri-cool fans together pointing towards the GPU's. I've got a basic fan controller on there with the Loon's on full control and the tri-cools on an "Off-5v-12v" switch. Almost silent when idle then when I start gaming I just flick the switches and I still can't hear it over the sound from the speakers :D
