*Official* Antec P182 Case's,Builds,Modifications & FAQ's

I am going to install the fans this weekend, got some ideas around installing the 120mm fan in the centre lower fan cage, which will not obstruct powersupply or HDD.. you will know what I mean when I post pics. Ordering Motherboard,Processor and 4 Gigs of Crucial Memory at the end of this week...:D then starting assembly the first weekend in Oct..:D Going to take my time with this build as I am playing around with some new ideas for this case...;) Will post build pics as I start building Tom84... Really recommend this case, the "Gun Metal" version is my favorite model in this range, and looks so much better in the flesh... Cheers M8

Had my p182 since release day now, and it's annoying me.

Although it houses my current watercooling, there's not enough room for my liking.
I'm also having trouble getting case temps down with my 8800GTX, and it's having an impact on other temps (mobo etc).

I've added a silent eagle 2000 120mm fan where the upper HDD cage used to be, but it hasn't seemed to have helped.

Great case, but a bit too warm and cramped for my liking with watercooling and a hot 8800gtx

I'm now looking at a Mountain Mods UFO or Duality...

Post pics of your setup..:)

Had my p182 for less than a week ,nice case but everytime I slide it into position the sticky feet come off the base ,the magnets in the door are also lose.

The case is not designed to be slid into position as the feet are made from rubber that grip to the surface. If you want to slide the case in various positions, put adesive round felt pads (which can be bought for pennys at any DIY store) under the feet of the Antec P182, and then you will easily slide the case around to your hearts content without the feet gripping and then coming off...:D

The magnets are designed to be slightly loose to conpensate for the door closing easily.

Great looking case. Nice photos of your builds.

Thinking of geting this. Couple of questions.

Does the 8800gtx fit fine in this?

Just how cool is this with air? My current (and pretty old) Coolermaster Prae has a couple of fans in the front constantly belting air through. Looking at cases without air going through the front makes me worry after living with my current case for so long!

GTX has plenty of room, the middle HDD cage is removable giving ample room for 8800 GTX's.
The Antec P182 case is cooled by a 120mm front centre fan, and another 120mm fan in the lower case compartment, in addition to the 120mm rear fan and 120mm top fan. With many reviews in magazines eg..(Custompc's Elite Case Award) and the internet, the case has shown to have excellent cooling properites.. Most of the time the cooling of the case is determined on how well the case components are layed out when built, I have seen lots of good cases suffering with cooling, one example of many is due to bad cable management restricting airflow...;)

BFG_9000 I think you just said everything I need to know. Will check a few reviews today but it seems this is the one for me. The layout inside and the general style of the things is definitely my cuppa.

Just got my 182 today :D

Will get some pictures up tomorrow if I remember. Managed to hide most cables behind the back.

Quick question (mainly because I'm far too lazy to take the side panel off and check myself :P): is it me, or is the very top fan blowing in? Surely it would be better blowing out? (Will turn it around myself if it is blowing in) o_0

Yes it does blow in, personally I am going to remove the top fan and not replace it, just going to use the cases top grill as a natural exit for hot air as it rises. With two front fans blowing cool air into the case, and the remaining one 120mm fan at the rear, the case is going to be much cooler..

Looking forward to seeing pic's of your new case.

What a strange design! Unless I'm completely silly, but having the fan blow out by default would be much more sensible!

I'll be switching it around then providing it doesn't require me to remove my hugeeee CPU fan :p

Found my first (and only) downfall with the case: PSU fan's are still rather noisy. Not even sure if its possible to turn their RPM down to make them as quiet as the others :(

What I'm trying to achieve is positive air pressure inside the case, two 120mm fans bringing cold air in and one 120mm fan taking warm air out..;) with the addition of a natrual grilled vent at the top of the case, have done this on other cases and seen a good drop in case temps..

Thinking of getting this case as well.

How quiet is it? I'd mainly be looking to upgrade to get something quieter than my current case. I've got a Thermaltake Xaser III which has... ahem... seven 80mm fans, so it makes quite a racket.

How would the P182 compare cooling wise? I presume it should be better with the 120mm fans.

Also, I've got a Hiper 580 watt PSU. Does anyone know if the main power cable would be long enough to reach the mobo or if I'd have to buy some power cable extensions? And do OcUK sell these?

IMO mine is very quiet; I have the P182 SE, with stock fans, a Corsair HX 620w PSU, a stock fan on a E6850, BFG 8800GTS 640OC, 2 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10's....There is next to no noise from it at all. Also, a couple of the fans are speed adjustable too (on the SE model anyways, dunno about the normal P182).

Personally - I would recommend this case to anyone. It is seriously good. :)

Imo the top fan sucking in is a good idea.
1) it dosnt blow up into my face/create an annoying draft.
2) It allows the air to blow into the CPU cooler, then be blown straight out the back , only problem with that is that heat pockets can occur unless you get another fan blowing at area's like the GPU, makes CPU temps good, possibly not so good for motherboard temps.

Only thing that annoyed me was the lack of a dust filter on it.
