*Official* Antec P182 Case's,Builds,Modifications & FAQ's

Thanks for the quick reply. But if you dont add a speaker, how do you find out if the comp is running the right way. How do you go about using your own speakers to listen for the beep..

Well if you loop the line out from the onboard audio to the line in on your soundcard won't it feed the beep to the pc speaker?

Anyway you don't really need the PC speaker connected anyway :p these days mobos will tell you onscreen what is wrong if anything si wrong, My P35 P5KC for example does just that and never once thought of attaching a speaker!

because it's only Asus.

Abit uGuru have warning beeping closed loop monitoring. so even if Windows freezes dead, the case beeper will still notify user of overheating/wrong voltage

Just wondering if anyone has a few of the optical drive rails spare? Lost all mine and now i cant mount my dvd drive, just sitting on top of my resevoir. =/

You should try and take more care! :D

I'm not giving you mine, maybe you would have better luck contacting ANTEC support and get the violin out! :p

Incredibly helpful post there.

Im aware antec would send me out a few but i need them sooner rather than later. All i need are 2 of them to mount a dvd drive and thats it.

Awwww cmon Gerard, keep a sense of humour about you! :o

So tell me the story of how u managed to lose all your Optical-Drive-Rails? If its good I'm sure some careful P182 owner will help ya out ;)

[edit] Failing that ANTEC support are really helpful and really quick, you could have your replacement rails by the end of next week. . . .

:O How are you guys plugging devices in? with furious force!!!? My P182 silver edition was bought 2nd hand and the USB ports are rock solid!

But aye, parts are fairly easy to replace, you may need to strip some elements down on the case to reach them though...

Mine were ok then I went away for the weekend came back and they were mysteriously broken. The missus never went near it either ;) i guess i must have a port busting polterguiest

Well my front usbs broke. I emailed antec and they sent out leads with the usb metal bracket /firewire and front sound sockets all attached as one.

Basically you take off the front panel unclip it from case and then inside there are screws holding in the 'firewire/usb/sound sockets'. They come all attached as one in a block and you just unscrew/screw back the block /attaching leads to mobo and you're done.

I found the centre bit fragile - not 'how hard I put in the component' being the problem.

Does anyone know if the OCZ ModXStream 900w PSU fits the P182? From looking at the webpage, the dimesnions are 150 x 140 x 86mm, which I think is smaller than the PSU cage...

OCZ ModXStream 900w PSU
I am not familiar with that exact PSU but as far as I am aware all PSU's are the same width, some are slightly longer than others though. If your PSU happens to be one of the longer varieties the worst case scenario would be you may have to remove the lower 120mm fan+bracket or perhaps keep it and spend a wee while adjusting the cables just so. If it is a longer version PSU then it wires would be mighty close to the lower fan thats for sure!

The actual PSU bracket is optional as the PSU is also screwed in from the rear of the case and those screw holes are pretty standard. The PSU bracket is also removable so that is best fitted onto the PSU outside the case.

Nice, cheers - think I'll go for (what seems to be common for P182 owners ;) ) the Corsair TX 650W. I want to keep the bottom fan, and needed to find a PSU that will have the connections to power a 9800 GX2 as well - which this seems to do.

Thanks!
