*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

Hi there, can anyone shed some light as to why I have such poor performance in ARMA 2?

My system specs are as follows:
XP Pro
Q6600 (no overclock)
4GB RAM
4870 512mb

I have the latest 9.6 ATI drivers yet am crashing (whole system locks up) nearly every 10-15 minutes in both SP and MP. I've tried various levels of ingame detail and am in the process of doing a defrag. The problem occurs more regularly when I bring up the map.

My game is patched to the latest 1.0.2 version.

Thanks.

I've got the 8800GT and it runs idle at 69C, im buying an Artic Freezer this week as the temps in the house are high anyway!

Ack i haven't got much gaming time left need that bloody pass for the server!

I've been banned from the server :D Team mates all had green diamonds round them. I then found what I believed to be enemy at a distance, they didn't have diamonds round them. So I let them have it :D

RivaTuner is pretty good for controlling GPU fan speeds. I use it for my 8800GTS which seems to prefer to cook itself rather than spin the fan up!

Mikey what is the bloody password man!!! ;D

Im running vista64 Voice and it couldn't find a driver for that Riva when i installed it :(

EDIT** running Nvidias control panel for the fan speed and put it up to 100%, it's now on 63%.

Anyone using a Saitek Cyborg Evo?

I'm a little confused as to how the controls are mapped by default. I have mapped the thrust lever to the thrust control, which is fine. However, when i decrease the lever, it helicopter doesnt fall out of the sky, it hovers (not auto-hover to confuse things more!) Instead, i have to use Z and Q to increase or decrease altitude.

It's probabily down to the game design, but its really quite annoying having to use a joystick and keyboard to fly the heli's, or at least land them. I suppose i was expecting the more simpler approach of increase thrust to increase power and altitude, and decrease thrust to decrease speed and altitude.

:o
