*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

I don't get it - I've just finished the SP campaign last night and I was quite surprised when it ended.

At no point throughout did I get to fly a fixed wing aircraft or a helicopter. I didn't even get to drive a tank, only an APC. And it also seems to me that the campaign involves exploring hardly any of the full sized island.

Is that correct?. SP Campaign doesn't involve aircraft or tanks?.:(

Bought it last night for £15.95. So did my mate at work.

Until I upgrade to the next gen of cards (due in a few months), am I likely to be able to run it with the following?

E6600 @ stock
2GB ram
8800GTS @ stock

1680 x 1050

If I remember correctly there were no fixed wing missions in arma but there was a cobra mission.

It would be best if you could overclock that E6600 to at least 3Ghz. 3.2 to 3.3 is preferable. Is that GTS the 320/640 or 512Mb version?

It is the 640mb one.

I will have a look at overclocking tonight and see if I can remember how to do it...it's been about 3 years since I last overclocked!

Out of interest, people with Win 7 x64 or any x64 OS, which program files are you installing to? The normal program files, or the program files (x86) folder?

Start a thread in the overclocking section, listing your mobo, ram etc, if you need help tonight :)

Sounds good for a temporary fix until I upgrade for windows 7 etc.

I will run my laptop on the forum and overclock my main pc at the same time.

Can anyone tell me if they've 'fixed' Sniper Camo/disabling grass/view distance?

Looks like an epic game with good squads, only really interested in becoming a sniper/spotter for a squad, depending on terrain/mission but assuming anyone with low graphics/draw distance can see me plain as day, even though I my screen I might be in 3' of grass?

Grass just makes it look "pretty" basically. Even on high detail you can zoom into the distance and there isnt any grass so a sniper hiding on a hillside is seen clear as day even though to them they are surrounded by grass.

Shame, using the environment to your advantage is a part of warfare, to be able to hide, scope up and spot for the squad would be a huge advantage.

Why the hell does grass work like that? It sure didn't in ArmA 1. Beyond the high detail distance it would just become a solid green block, meaning it still obscured.

This is literally the one thing about the game I am annoyed about. No doubt BIS must be aware of it and perhaps it will get patched. If they did it with Arma1 then it looks likely to get fixed.

I completely agree. I have only just got it working properly by doing all those complicated fixes for Crossfire (see spec in sig). Had to use the config edits and the -winxp, can run it on max now and I was really surprised about how bad the grass looks in the distance and by the fact that it disapears over a longer range.

Completely agree Phonesis!!
