Regarding the settings you were asking about. I have my speed just slightly increased to 1.1 and smoothness up to almost maximum. This helped the most. I also disable the zoom axis and keep that to the right mouse button. There's virtually no dead zone as well.
It does take a bit to get used to but it's worth sticking with. I do find myself in other FPS games moving my head the way I do in ArmA and totally forgetting it's not on. The advantages of using it in this game are well worth it...especially useful for snipers in online MP.

Just ordered trackir 5 with pro clip from rcsims I know I should have called first to see if they have any stock. But I want it ordered and if they don't have any then I'll be next in line for the next lot of stock.

When i have ordered new releases from them they arrive on the day of release, except a DVD i ordered which actually arrived through my door the day BEFORE release! here's keeping my fingers crossed.
Wait, so that is an issue with ArmA 2 as well?
FFS, that's the reason I didn't get ArmA, because I'm not getting rid of a GB of ram just so I can play one game. Is there any hope that it will be fixed in a patch?

Just so you know RCsims have emailed and acknowledged my order, but they are out of stock. More are being delivered from the states and should arrive in 5-7 days

My ARMA boots okay with 4GB of RAM and 2GB of Graphics RAM on 64 Bit Vista on the latest patched version.
I can't imagine the problem would still be about in ARMA 2!
Edit: Oh , didn't realise it was as specific as requiring an ATI card...

If it requires an ATI card, then I'm all right. If it was fixed in a patch then I can't see it being a problem this time round, it was just the demo never worked, and I didn't want to risk getting the game and finding it had the same problem.

One thing that bugged me was the poor visibility when airborne. There was a thick, view-distance-related fog which made some ground attacks difficult. What is the visibility like in ARMA 2?
I haven't gamed since 2005, but this is really tempting.
