*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

Your dual core won't cut it

Nonsense. It might not run at a massively high frame rate but it will be perfectly playable.

Taken from the a statement made by one of the dev team on the BIS forums :-

Our intention is to scale at least to some extent to quad cores (this means with quad cores you should have either better performance in some scenes than in dual cores). Therefore the game should run better on Quad Core compared to Dual Core assuming they both run at the same frequency.

That said, you can get higher frequency Dual Core for the same money as you could get Quad Core. My prediction is 3.3 GHz Dual Core will most likely run the game better than 2.5 GHz Quad Core, while both will cost you approximately the same.

One thing to note: different scenarios / workloads may show different performance patterns - e.g. it is possible missions with huge numbers of units will runner better on 2.5 GHz Quad Core than 3.3 GHz Dual Core.

but I still stand by my statement.

I'm being pedantic, but stand by your statement all you like, it's still incorrect. :p

Performance will be dependant on many varibles, important ones being the resolution being used and the view distance implemented by the player.

Not just on whether you have a quad or a C2D.

To be honest, I couldn't care less about frame rates and maxed out settings, this game might look nice at max settings but I believe most people buying it will be more impressed and interested by the gameplay rather than the eye candy. I know when it drops through my letterbox tomorrow sometime I will fiddle about with the settings until I find a happy medium, that's what most folk do with any game surely?. It's not a willy waving competition. :D

Plus, I'm gaming at my 19" widescreen LCD monitors native res which is 1440x900. My modest rig will handle that without breaking sweat. ;)

Never a truer word/paragraph said on here . (Still standing by my statement :D)

I think anyone who clocks over 3ghz should be ok with this game, duo or quad.

Is it actually released tomorrow then? So tempting as I have a long weekend off...

I agree and yeah, released tomorrow - 19th. Good job you have a long weekend, I'm back on duty on Sunday - bah!!!. :p
