Almost finished dl'ing patch too

And as has been said, the world is amazing, can really slip into real emmersion with the scenery

A german online friend talked me through some tweaks earlier, my 4870 512 fps stock game fps were 25ish or over slightly, with his tweaks i got high of 55fps

Hoping the added options in the patch will do away with having to tweak cfg etc etc

ADDED: Res @ 1920x1200 so i'm really impressed with my aging 4870

Wow, was a big fan of Op Flashpoint, but somehow missed out on the first ARMA game. Been playing this all night, and despite the fact I'm rubbish at it and keep dying, getting some strange graphical bugs sometimes, it doesn't run that great on my Q6600, 4gb and 8800GTX, well despite all that I'm really enjoying it. It's loads of fun and the gameworld is mint

To be fair to the game, it's probably my fault for pushing it a bit too far. I knocked a couple of things higher than the default, also running at 1920x1200. It actually runs ok for most of the time, but does slow down a bit when there is lots going on. Maybe it's time to break out the credit card and finally order a new GFX card, had this 8800GTX a while, was going to upgrade a little while ago but decided everything was running ok so why bother, but I might have a reason to now

After it came to the second install option, it throws errors pointing to ADDONS\

So i have to abort patching grrrrrrrrrrr

Gonna do fresh install

Ok from the video options, all they have done is added "disabled" to the current lists that were already there, there an Antialising box now, but i cant change that and it says Disabled.

Woohoo!! Proper AA support!! It does not seem to be enabled in the options, but if you edit Documents\Arma2\Arma2.cfg and set FSAA=2 it actually works

FSAA=0 - Disabled
FSAA=1 - Low
FSAA=2 - Normal
FSAA=3 - High
etc

EDIT: Enabling AA seems to remove all shadows, I'll look into it some more

Kane, from where i'm standing, the cpu gets a decent pounding by the game and i reckon a 1gig gpu ram amount would be better than my 512 for sure, as for ram itself, this is not the be all and end all, so go on the assumption you need decent cpu/gpu + large ram on gpu

I don't see why x-fire wouldn't work but no doubt someone will post

Yeh getting a new mobo because the one I have now is so shocking it doesn't allow overclocking, what sort of results should I get on air from a q6600 2.8ghz?

Re xfire, people posted on here that it does work in xfire in W7 but u have to run in Xp config mode or something.

Uninstalled game and redid it

Patch now going in nicely (ohh ar missus)

Kane .......... If you want help getting your q6600 to 3.2 gimme a shout when ya want not had one yet that wouldn't on a decent mobo, decent aircooled is 3.2 capable too

With 2.8ghz i would say that's ok, as i say, emphasise seems on gpu speed and gpu ram amount mainly

Yes, I've tested FSAA=0, 1 2 and 3. It shows up as disabled/low/normal/high in the options, and works in game. It does seem to disable all shadows though (even though they say very high or whatever in the options).
