Whens it out on steam then, probably be weeks or months before I get this game working 100% tbh

I suggest jkdefrag if anyone needs it or did you mean the steam option because not sure I think much of that
 
May have to look into xfire, not used it before.

The main thing with me and steam is just that I have lots of mates on it who I play alongside most of the time. tbh I am not so sure I'm going to able to hold out now lol.

They are in Prague, you do know where that is dont you? Or were you just stating the obvious?

Also, I dont see you flaming other devs like E.A when they do NOTHING about "unfinished" games for months and sometimes just ignore them completely nevermind working through the night to get out a patch they have given on exact time scale on.

If so, that to me reads that 1.02 will be the STEAM release, not that it will be released earlier on STEAM.

My brother just bought this game. What kind of protection does this game have? Can I install it without any problems while he's also playing it? Obviously not online though, just single player.
 
Ok just looked into xfire and it sounds like it's as good as steam for comms etc. Only reason to get the steam release is auto updates then. Am pretty sure retail is the way forward now.
 
Just got ArmA II this morning in the post.

The mouse is completely putting me off though, and I can't find the floating zone option that everyone has recommended :confused:
 
Patch 1.02 is out now, 120something megabytes i think.

Just been laning this game with some friends, apart from us sucking and a few helicopter not landing issues it's great and stable now. Applying the ambient combat ai into the game makes things interesting whereby and enemy will calling attack/transport helicopters to support them. In a game we just played the odds staccked ugainst us whilst we were trying to attack a village and ended up surrounded... never even go to show off my mission's cool c130 landing in action because the ai destroyed us.

Artillary modules work lovely now too, spent a good 30mins painting and calling in targets for my friends in the a10 and howitzer to attack.

The floating zone is set to zero by default. The mouse is a bit floaty and I am afraid there is nothing that can be done about it - Arma1 was worse.

Indeed, FADE renders them pretty useless anyway.

Captain Obvious question - What is the score with patching then?. Is it correct that the UK retail discs came pre-patched with 1.01b?.

So the next step would be to patch to the 1.02 or is there a "non-beta" 1.01 that needs to be applied first?. That sounds clear as mud!!!. :p

Cheers, downloading the patch now. What sort of frame rate are you getting on your system m8?. Similar to mine albeit you have a better GPU than me.

I'm seeing around 25fps with settings on v.high at 1440x900 which I think is about the norm for a C2D and a card of simialr spec to mine.
