*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

cheers :)

most Q6600s will do 3.2 gig easily - and that will give you some additional free performance, will feed the monster of the 4870x2 better too :)

be interested to know what sort of frame rates your getting with the 4870x2 .. :)

Mark.

There will be coming new cards out soon. Wait a little longer and you may get something much faster. Personally I can't wait to see what the next gen of cards can do with Arma 2. Ah, to play at 2560*1600 with 200 % fillrate !!

About the overclocking: thanks, I will head to the overclocking forum one of these days when I find the time (and the will to tear myself away from ArmA 2).

These guys are awesome.

It is early morning and they go and release a patch with all the support that goes with it.... How many developers do that?

I am buying this game twice in support.

1. They should be up late releasing patches if they release a game that isnt finished!!
2. It's not late in the states...

One question though - how do you switch between first and third person modes?

Think the default is Numpad Enter.

The To Translate message is from the wrong language files FYI

Can some kind person please post he updated English langauge files from a English Patched 1.02 version of Arma2

Due to problems with cheaters the sign files would be needed as well ( servers MIGHT kick you depending on how they are set-up)
File List / locations :

ArmA2 dir \ AddOns \ language.pbo
ArmA2 dir \ AddOns \ language.pbo.bi.bisign

ArmA2 dir \ AddOns \ languagemissions.pbo
ArmA2 dir \ AddOns \ languagemissions.pbo.bi.bisign

ArmA2 dir \ Dta \ languagecore.pbo
ArmA2 dir \ Dta \ languagecore.pbo.bi.bisign

Zip em and put on rapidshare or one of those other places please

I'm a bit confused, I patched the game and it has changed the options in the graphic settings. There is now an option for AA which I cannot select/change and there is no longer an option for fillrate. There is a new option for Post processing and interface resolution. Why can't I select the AA option?

Fillrate optimizer is now hidden in the 3D resolution option. It is the same thing they just changed the name.

FSAA is not fully supported yet (it removes shadows), you can't tweak it in the options menu. You can get it working by changing value in your ArmA2.cfg file.

FSAA=0; Disabled
FSAA=1; Low
FSAA=2; Medium
FSAA=3; High

FSAA will be completely supported in one of the futures patchs (Full AA suport is expected in 1.03)

Thanks, still an odd way of implementing AA

Christ I'm crap at this game :p

It's going to be a while before I can show my face on multiplayer. Good to see the next patch is out.

Me too.
Definately my favourite game over the last 18 months or so

just need to work out multiplayer now !! - ie how the heck do you find the others/spawn in places not 20km away !.
I got the map co-ordinates to show once, lol, can't do it again yet. :)
Gah noob city. After trying to heal the wounded guy lying in front of me for 20 minutes, wondering why the action menu wasnt coming up, resetting controls etc. realised it was another wounded guy 20 paces away.

Haha, yup, I did the same.:D

For anybody considering getting a dual GPU card mainly for Arma 2.
The support for dual GPUs is crap right now, so I would wait for the them to support it better in future patches or wait and see what the nextgen of cards can do.

I can't wait to check out how my gtx295 will handle this game!

So now the 1.02 patch is out perhaps the steam release will be out this weekend? Yoshiro mentioned this in the steam forums. I am literally sitting here battling with myself over whether or not I should go get this game right now or hold on for steam (which I rly want for this game). I am heading into town anyway to get a wireless adapter for my 360 and just know that I will be fighting with myself in the shop like some sort of disturbed crazy person.

IF is set FSAA to anything other than 0 I get weird graphic problems
Like some sort of overlay issue , using GTX280 with 186.18 drivers

To any Nvidia users trying this
What drivers you running with ?

What are the benefits of a Steam version? Do you get better servers with Steam?

okay re-installed the game but cant find the english lang files !!

hope the this patch improves the performance and rids the silly blur stuff, thanks for the heads up

You get the benefit of the fully integrated friends list, invites, server browsers, automatic updating, steam voice channels, and a lack of box clutter.

Preferred the first reply to my question, though I would wouldn't I; with my retail copy.
Mention of the voice channels and server browsers got me a bit pig sick.:) Everything else can be had by just adding a non-Steam product on Steam, can it not? Apart from updates, obviously.

No jmc when you add non-steam games you don't get steam features. It essentially just lets you launch an .exe file and your status will change to playing non-steam game. You can still use voice channels though as that is just a feature of steam.

Cos of years of Xbox Live, I just can't go back to not being able to see when my mates are playing and on what servers etc. It really is just a personal preference but ever since L4D I cannot go back to discs.

The best advantage of Steam is the Updates being automatic and all the files for games being easier to find. BUT it is more expensive on Steam. And if you have some old games causing clutter, what reason is there not to trade them in towards this?
