How are people finding the actual gameplay now they've had the game for a while?

Its quite atmospheric and i am liking it, despite it being very hard, but when you are used to playing games from the COD series through to other shooters like Crysis, the game feels very clumsy to control. Also, my team mates keep running off and getting themselves killed(which means a mission fail). Im not in charge of the squad at this point in the campaign, so i cant keep them out of trouble .

Graphically its quite nice, but very demanding on your PC, Crysis runs better and looks nicer, but i dont think the Crysis game world is anywhere near as big as this, so its understandable.

As of Patch 1.02

Fillrate optimizer is now hidden in the 3D resolution option. It is the same thing they just changed the name.

FSAA is not fully supported yet (it removes shadows), you can't tweak it in the options menu. You can get it working by changing value in your ArmA2.cfg file.

FSAA=0; Disabled
FSAA=1; Low
FSAA=2; Medium
FSAA=3; High

FSAA will be completely supported in one of the futures patchs (Full AA suport is expected in 1.03)

OCed my q6600 from 3.0 to 3.2 and it seems to have made a difference

Whats the graphics card in your laptop Mah

Its a 8600GT 256meg, with a 2ghz dual core Intel Santa Rosa and 2 gigs of RAM, wouldnt go lower than that tbh though its not bad for a two year old laptop But again I WANT MY DESKTOP!!! Probably wont even have net access by when I get to use it again, damn house sitting and moving flat grrr.

Also only kinda related but what would be better another 4870 512meg running crossfire or jumping up to a 4890 if theyre only £140?

The movement in this is so much better then arma 1. And its nice not taking ages to get some where.

Was just playing int he armory and I had to steal a truck while a su-25 kept trying to strafe me Awesome game. Wish I had a better gfx card

The armoury is fantastic, I've just spent ages doing challenges in the civillian chopper and a car, unclocked quite a few things for that mode, and realised the scale of the game map.

Interesting that a lot of the western side of the map seems to be moorlands- they would make for some interesting battles.

With arma2 mark its better to run once straight thru
then run again ( this time it rules out any buffering issues)
Take this second mark as the score

Specs as below:
1920 x 1200 - all normal settings except post processing which is low

xp sp3 182.06 drivers arma ver 1.01 = 5259
xp sp3 186.18drivers arma ver 1.02 = 5425.71

Win 7 arma ver 1.02 = 4243

I wish they would hurry up and get the demo out. I'm potentially interested in buying this, but I really need to try it for myself because at the moment when I look around on the web I see one person saying its great, the next person saying its horrible, the next person saying its the greatest game in history, the next person saying its terrible and so on.

Only way I can know for sure is to try it for myself, so chop chop with that demo !!

anyone know of any tweaks i can do with a 4850 card, the game itself is running perfect, medium sized combat around 30fps, but as soon as you get planes, or tanks around, it drops to 12 and is totally annoying.

GTX260 is a really good card though.
Maybe wait to check out the demo
