Oc that i7 matey

That might increase fps a bit (not got i7 but i got my q6600 @ 3.6ghz to be sure lol)

So you say my crossfire is working? I just ran gpuZ with arma 2 maximized with 2nd GPU selected + Continue refreshing ticked.

The GPU load was 0% most of the time and spiked to 6% once. Have I got a problem?

If you see down bottom left faces, they are in your control

You would be F1 key then 1st guy in your group would be F2 and so on

Press eg: F2 then number buttons (can't rem offhand) but just try and you will see orders etc that you can give them, also off top of my head ...

Press F key for a man, then aim at an area and it will give a range readout, click and that man will go to that point

The key is the Funcion keys, once you figure it out it becomes second nature

Few keys for you, K=compass double tap k to keep comapss showing, 1 k tab and hold to see it

V to clamber over fences etc

T you can swap groups etc

Middle mouse button to call ammo artillery etc if you are equiped with them

F cycles your weapons

Just thought i'd throw them in the mix for you

Ok ive had the faces come up before but only for a few secs, then someone else says im taking control. I guess its just going to take some getting used to.

I'm getting 25-35fps average with everthing on very high, view distance 2400 and res at 1680x1050,would i benefit a lot by getting a Q9550 or just oc the e8400 more?
I would definitely overclock that 8400 more. I am an amateur and I managed to clock mine to 4000 first time with no issues and my temps are not much higher than stock. I am going to see if I get 4400 out of it.

edit: lol wrong quote

After reading all your frame rates... I am beginning to think if my crossfire is actually working.

Shouldn't I be getting a lot more fps with 2 cards?

What resolution do u play at? There are two possible issues here:

1. Ur i7 being at only 2.66 could be bottlenecking the performance - get it up to 3.5+

2. Xfire isnt enabled - if not using XP i understand that u need to change the config file and launch profile to ensure it is working. Hopefully someone can pipe in about this to save u trawling through the last 10 pages of this thread...

Be very interested to know if either of these help ur framerates as i'm toying with getting 2x 4890s myself (will only be on P45 so 8x8 mind).

Playing at 1920x1200, getting severe frame rate drops.

My i7 is at 2.66, and im on vista x64 and haven't changed a config file. What do I need to do?

*Edit*

Just launched crysis and my 2nd card flew up to 80% load, looks like Arma2 is def not using it.

i think u need to enter the .exe properties (i.e. right click on the icon in the game folder or start menu) and add "space-winxp" (dont type space).

From what I have read dual graphics cards are having problems. It also appears that the game runs faster on Xp which I am going to try out tonight. Try running the game at a lower resolution and you should overclock your cpu. Forget graphics cards, this game is all about cpu's.

Thank you!!! I'm not topping at 60FPS, seems to be game maximum?

This is with my CPU @ stock 2.66. :)

I will overclock it later to 3.5

The game has vsync enabled so is limited to the screens refresh rate (i.e. 60Hz). Dont think there is a way to turn it off but its one of those games that seems smooth even at 30 FPS.

You can force it off in your graphics card's control panel.

Your fps will increase slightly and also controls feel more responsive (less input lag). Tearing is hardly noticeable, but then again I'm pretty used to it in other games so it doesn't bother me anyway.

Loving the game on single player, It would seem though that I can't get a decent playable framerate in MP. Played on a 20 man server last night. Ping of 18 but frame rates were bobbins, they were like 20-25 fps.

On single player I'm getting around 35-55fps, dependent upon the mission. I play with a mix of normal and high settings. It would seem though regardless of settings I get the same-ish frames. Got my monitor res at 1920x1200 looks pap at anything other than native res.

ASUS P5B Deluxe WiFi AP
Hiper 730 Watt Type M ATX v2.2
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83mhz 1333 FSB (@3.7mhz)
ATI Powercolor 4870x2 2gb
Kingston HyperX 8GB (4x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5
150gb WD Raptor X
150gb WD Velociraptor
Vista 64bit

Anybody else having similar issues?

Cheers

Mine is disabled ini the control panel and still caps my frames at 60 fps (when it gets that high, primarily on the menu screen)

I think it is enabled regardless, think it is more of an issue with ATI cards than Nvidia. well tats what I have read, could be wrong.

I have same issue, 60fps in single player then maximum 30 in MP. I think this is down to the servers settings? Isn't there a server fps setting on most online games?

Are both your GPUs being used ? if so do you use the -winxp parameter ?

Hi mate,
I have been skating around BIA's site for optimisation tips and did affix that parameter in the shortcut command line. Wasn't sure it made much difference. Gpuz to test if both cores are active?

Cheers

yeah, using GPU-Z I found that using -winxp enabled the second gpu...didn't do so much for performance though.

Yeah as I said did put the parameter in there but didn't seem to make too much difference. Will have a look at GPU-z tonight though. Only just switched to Vista really and haven't got a lot of my usual tools and programs installed yet.

You tried tinkering with the cfg file yet?

http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73947

some folks have been dabbling with the .exe renaming shenanigans to allow x-fire. Isn't the x2 seen as a crossfired cards?
