*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

How well will the below PC run @ 1920x1200 top quality low AA?

Speakers: Logitech Z-5500 5.1 THX Digital
Soundcard: X-Fi Titanium THX PCI-Express.
Drive: GGW-H20L Blu-Ray Rewriter/ HD-DVD drive
Case: *Still to buy*
Hard Drives: 3x1Tb Hitachi (Considering SSD for main drive).
Power Supply: Corsair HX 750W
CPU: Intel i7 920 D0 stepping retail
Motherboard: Asus Rampage Extreme II
Ram: 6Gb Patriot 3x2Gb 1600Mhz
Graphics Card: XFX 1Gb 4890
Keyboard: Saitek Eclipse III
Mouse: Microsoft HABU

Considering the demo is out.. why not download it and get the best indicator? Otherwise.. it depends on what OS you're using.

I download @ 30kbps.

Just want a rough guide for when my pc build is completed.

Any ideas why Arma II does a CTD when im overclocked @3.8Ghz and is fine when i run at stock 3.2Ghz

Any comments welcome (as long as constructive)

Simple dude , your overclock is not stable @ 3.8

More volts needed or looser timing etc ( I will assume you have orthosed it
for several hours at least , failing that do 50 runs of intel burn test )

Overclock was done at OCUK as the rig was from there its the "Ultima Warlord"
What is looser timings ? please advise
It runs stable when playing EVE online at 3.8Ghz

P.s im new to overclocking so please I need all the help i can get :)

Theres a burn util that'll give graphs of temp rises and voltage stability. I forget its name though

Orthos should run for 24hr to call it good. For all I know the airflow has been cut by something and thats why, check if you want that extra 600mhz. Surely the graphics is the limiting factor

Good point when you look at it that way it is only 600mhz boost but as i say i am intrested in overclocking and wish to learn more :)

As for timing i belive thats is the memory yes ? 9-9-9-28 at the moment

BIS for the win

edit: beaten to it but my post had notes :p

Liking the game after playing Op flash and ARMA in years gone by but the blur effect (even when standing still) makes objects less crisp and detailed. Its like the game has been photoshopped with the blur filter. Hopefully theres a way to fix this.

U need to disable postprocessing effects to remove blur i think.

I tried to enable both 200% fillrate and AA to High after installing the updated patch. It works but is unplayable. The AA works by itself but I still see jaggies...
But all in all, a good addition. Enabling High AA doesn't cost a lot of frames for me.

I think I'm getting a bit of mouse lag too with the new update. Certainly seems so within any menu screens before you actually start the game, not sure if during gameplay it is any different from before though, will see.

However, I've got AA set to "Very High" and WOW!!!!. What a difference in the graphics!!.

Makes everything look much smoother.

Nice have to pay for a game just to be BETA testers for it:mad:

Just downloaded the new updated 1.02 patch from the link on the previous page and when i install it, it says i've already got 1.02 installed and does nothing. Is that right or should it actually install something?

Bit like OS's then M$ lol

Amazes me (yep i've said it in a previous reply) how many jump into a freshly released game expecting 100% workability

Nowadays with that many configs or pc's and not to mention overclocks that are unstable or too high either for cpu's or gpu's and sometimes i stress sometimes total complete idiocy by the purchaser when hoping to run a modern game on a lack-luster rig

Back to the updated patch, installed it now and i'm gonna go have a try :)

EDIT : Proc, i installed over 1.02 and it worked fine, have you made your cfg read-only and not changed it back ??
