In answer to my ramblings about hotspot - its reported this morning that players have been using Silicone tape on their bat's which prevents many edges from showing on Hotspot.
True? no idea, but it would explain why up to now Hotspot seemed to show -everything- and suddenly its showing nothing.

This was my thoughts as I watched all those nicks with no hotspot.

Just read this - Englands version of David Warner! Never expected this from Monty though. I always thought he seemed one of the most harmless genuine guys around and didn't even expect that he'd drink.

I don't know it sounds like damage limitation to me, you would think if this was the case one of the teams would have noticed by now.

It reminds me of the recent Pirelli saga in F1, their tyres were not fit for purpose around Silverstone but they shifted the blame onto the track.

There's an easy solution if this is the case anyway, just get the umpires to inspect the batsmens bats as they walk out onto the crease.

A bit of a risk there. What if they edged a ball onto pads and were given LBW but nothing showed on hotspot so were given out :D

It would appear that when players drive at the ball hotspot has difficulties picking it up. Channel 5 reported that a while back.

For individual players to be accused of cheating is just the lowest of the low

That's Pieterson's argument, although Pietersen's first innings a hotspot did show and they still gave it out LBW. :p

I work for the company that makes the IR camera that they use for hotspot. Its a very advanced defence IR camera and has been in the field for a while now so I very much doubt its the cameras fault.

Off to Chester le Street soon and must say I'm quite excited, not just about the cricket but the fact that the weather looks OK for the day - which is a miracle for me because it usually chucks it down. Fingers crossed.

Hope the weather stays good for you. Hopefully the opening batsman can come to the party:)

Spent the night out this evening and missed most of today's play.

Very solid start from England, it was a good toss to win. Run rate's looking healthy. I can't see another wicket falling before they reach 200.
