...says the guy who hasn't posted in this thread since the 22nd. Funny how you only ever turn up when Australia's doing badly or I've just posted.
Nice little score there by the Aussies, Clarke finally making a much needed century and Smith supported him nicely with 70 not out.
With the exception of Watson and Khawaja, although tbf that decision against Khawaja was absolutely atrocious...Aussies have finally learned how to bat on a good pitch.
Hopefully this will end up being a tad more exciting than the last 2, id like to see this go down to the wire...5th test being the deciding one.

Yup, all about making money rather then a result, so the ground can show the ECB how much of a success it was and claim more tests that end in draws :/
Can't believe they took the ashes away from Edgbaston for this.

I think OT and Edgbaston should both be fixtures for the Ashes, there's been some classic Ashes moments at both, but this is inevitably what happens when test cricket is the major source of income for all grounds.
Much cloudier here in Manchester this morning so hopefully that will help the bowlers if the rain stays away.
I think it's disgusting that the Oval and Lords get a test each out of every single tour. Durham, Headingley, Old Trafford, Trent Bridge, Rose Bowl... there's too many to ensure those two get everything.

I agree with that. I think Lords should host a test for every Ashes series but the Oval should be on a series on/series off basis that open up the opportunity for an extra ground to get a test.
The major problem though is that too many smaller grounds have expanded to try and get a slice of the test cricket pie when there aren't that many games to go around.
