*****Official Ashes thread*****

Hmm, not happy about that. We should have batted all the way to the end. If our boys are capable of reaching 7 for 527 on this pitch, England is capable of batting for three days straight.

At this rate it'll be a draw.

The forecast is for Sunday and Monday to be complete washouts. Your boys needed to declare to have any chance of a win in a test likely to be badly foreshortened by the rain.

Terrible by England.

Aussies first innings put a win pretty much beyond us. We should have came out with the intention to sit and bat for two days, boring as you like but we would retain the Ashes and that would have been that.

Instead come out and try to bat for god knows what reason, lost two wickets making a loss likely as opposed to the draw which was our best chance anyway.

Moronic.

2 for 52, I'm happy with that. At least a draw will prevent a whitewash.

In other news, Boycott wants Erasmus dropped:

Geoffrey Boycott has slammed umpire Marais Erasmus and called on the ICC to drop him from the series following another day of controversial decisions in the third

The South African official has been at the centre of a wealth of disputable decisions since the series began at Trent Bridge, and Boycott believes the only solution is for him to be pulled altogether.

...

"What would worry me is Erasmus the umpire," Boycott said at the close of play on day two. "He's had a shocker this series.

"If I was batting tomorrow I would be more worried about when I'm batting and he's umpiring at the bowler's end than I would be about Australia's bowlers.

"That was a straightforward decision (Bresnan).

"If I was the ICC I wouldn't defend the indefensible, I would say 'listen he's not doing the job he needs to have a rest'."
