**Official Asus A8N-SLI Premium Thread**

I decided to reflash the bios as i figured it might be corrupt. Not a good idea. After clearing cmos not only could i still not get into the bios it had reset the NVraid to disabled so i couldn't boot to windows. Then after trying again i turned it on and blank screen, everything working it seemed, fans spinning etc. but it wasn't going anywhere and no signal was going to the monitor. What was worse is it wasn't detecting the power buttons on the case so the only way to turn it off was at the psu. Next time i switched it on it worked. Took an awful long time at the asus screen (40secs+) but it detected me pressing del and took me to bios.
Could anyone tell me if they have a similar problem with the asus screen being there for so long. I know it wasn't when i first set it up so i assume it's not meant to be that long. Also does the power LED come on until after this screen?
My HDD led doesn't seem to work and i'm wondering would that have anything to do with not having a screw or mobo spacer in the bottom right hole next to the connectors. A long shot i know.

Anyone successfully using the NvRAID features (RAID1 etc...) with the Nvidia IDE drivers?

I've read so much about corruption due to these potentially.

Any updates?

I'm using them, but given the problems i'm having i don't know how successfully. I've Raid0 (2x80gb) on NV controllers 1 and 2. So far no corruption, the only problems have been the loading one and sluggish loading in games. I can't be 100% sure but i think HL2 loaded faster on my old comp and i don't remember the stuttering whenever i turned the corner. Although googling suggests that this is game engine related. I'll have to check in other games as both FEAR and HL2 suffer from it but also from poorly optimised engines.

Thanks, I'm using them for RAID1 on my main disks in the 4400 rig. Nforce 6.70 installed, had to install the IDE bit to get access to the mirror. So far (touch wood) so good. Very disappointed with the performance hit via h/w mirroring though :( But as long as it works and doesnt corrupt the data, I'll keep it in place.

Don't use NvRAID on the other system, so IDE drivers arent installed.

Time will tell I guess - I know I had issues with Nforce 6.66 and corruption previously.

Thanks for the reply :)

Bump* Anyone have problems withh the htt multi on this board?no matter how many times i set it in BIOS to 3 it always shows in AI Booster as 4x? Which gives me a fsb of over 1000

Anyone know if I plug a SATA2 drive into the NVIDIA connectors on the board will it run at SATA2 speeds or will I have to set something? I currently have 2 non raid SATA drives plugged in. I know with only one SATA2 drive in non Raid setup theres not reallly much advantage but I'd like to know if its running even a little bit faster than the other two SATA drives.

Ok lads my friend is gona get this board.

I havent got time to read the topics etc. So is it worth getting and a good
allround board,

Thanks

not had any issues with it, no compatibility issues, oc's nicely, silent.. very nice.

A lot easier than the dfi I just got!

Hi.
All going badly i should have this board by this time next week.
(Taking my AN8 Ultra in on Saturday for testing, TechSupport Guy said that i'd get the Asus A8N-SLi Premium as a replacement. :D ).

Anyway.
Ive got a few questions to ask about this board.

-- Is it possible for me to use the SLI slots for 2 seperate ATI cards. I dont intend on SLI at all. I want to use one slot for my X800XL, and another for a cheap X300. Possible?

-- When both of those slots are in usage, are the remaining 4 PCI-E lanes left for the PCI-Ex4 slot, or is one of those lanes left for one of the Gigabit adaptors?

-- Will my SI-120 fit fine on the board?

-- Will my Antec TrueBlue 480W Rev1 (20pin) PSU work on this board alright or will i need a new PSU?

-- Any common problems or tips for me?

Thanks in advance all.

I've a similar question to the last post !

Is there a way of connecting my 20 pin PSU connector to the 24 pin receiver. I have an idea you can, as long as you also connect the 4 pin molex connector.

Recommendations for Raid0 Setup?

Looking for a list of the most stable drivers to use for a Raid0 setup on the following system.

- AMD Athlon 64 FX57 San Diego (Socket 939) Dual DDR400 CPU
- Thermaltake CL-W0005-01 BigWater Big Water SE Cooling
- Asus A8N-SLi Premium nForce4 SLi Dual Channel PCI-Express Motherboard
- Corsair 2GB (2x1GB) DDR XMS3200C2PT CAS2.0 Dual Channel Kit
- 2 x 250GB Western Digital 16mb cache SATA-2 Hard Drive
- 2 x NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB DDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Cards (SLi Configured)

Also a (1st to last) part guide i could use? on a Raid0 setup would help.

Bios "Optimized" settings for the Ultima Extreme SLi" AMD Athlon 64 FX57 Dual DDR System.

Thanks for the Help :)

Bought this mobo this week, it came with Bios 1009.

I am using the Nvidia chipset drivers from the Nvidia website which are currently 6.70. Easy to set up with having read through all the advice & minor problem solving that was given, very stable set up at stock, will see how it overclocks later this week. :)

No bother with the network hardware with that Bios version/Drivers nelly? Might be time to update mine then. I'm on version 1005 (having seen people had bother with other bios versions) and long since resorted to running a pci network card to cure some (but not all :( ) of the blue screens/hangs this board suffers from :(

My system sometimes hangs on booting up, gets to the Windows XP Home Edition i.e black background then hangs... doesnt always happen, I'll have a dabble around see if I can fix it - no big deal really depends how fussy you are - I'm fussy!

I'm fussy - Mine hangs on that screen but I think I have harddrive issues, unless there is a slim chance it could be the mobo. What happens Sometimes it will sit there for an extra 10-20secs but I can hear my drive clicking and not running as it would normally which I guess means bad drive. Gonna try one of these raptors I think..

I think its an issue with the Nvida Nforce IDE/Sata Controller Drivers, I didnt have this issue using the Windows default drivers come to think of it & this only started happening when I tried the chipset drivers off the disk that comes with the mobo & also the Nvidia chipset drivers from the Nvidia website which are currently 6.70.

Cant really fault Asus, its not there fault if Nvidia cant sort out the drivers.

I was running my Windows installed 150gb raptor on Sata 3, backup 74 raptor on sata 2, so I switched these round so that my 150gb was on Sata 1, 74gb backup raptor on Sata 2, my system hasnt hanged once anymore! :)

Also stock timings 2-3-2-5 @2.70vDimm (1T) on my 2Gb G.Skill 3200ZX is working perfectly now, it woudnt even let me change the auto defaults without having to reset the Cmos & reflashing the Bios prior to changing the Sata connections as above.

Got my system running absolutly ace now! :)
