*****Official ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA thread*****

Hi, I think that the nb and sb are rated up to 90c before failsafes cuts in. As for the motherboard, mine recently went up to 66c before the board shut down...

Right...

I've decided to give the aftermarket cooling a go and after having just successfully removed the whole fusion block (the thermal pads they use are like concrete).

The Mosfets are still covered so what do I need to buy for the Southbridge? i want something that will fit normally without having to be glued/bodged on.

I'm edging toward http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-045-TR for the northbridge.

would this fit the southbridge do you reckon?

Good point, I have GTX with Zalman cooler fitted I'll try ZM-NB32K instead i think it will fit - it's only 32mm tall.

Probably going to go with Noctua NC-U6 for NB it has more heatpipes.

Maclement - Running 4x1GB of GeIL PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency at 388fsb 1:1 and 4-4-4-12 with no problems on the 0401 bios still.

Did have the Ballistix but my previous mobo died & killed one of them too so got the Geil. Bargain stuff

nope, measured it, you need a one under 14mm high.

its difficult to source, i ended up making my own custom heatsink for it with artic silver mx2

small problem, since overclocking the cpu i cant get into the properties of anything in Vista....going back to default settings doesnt change it
