*****Official ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA thread*****

Cheers for the heads up Chris , i wonder if they fixed the broken divider ?

Hi, I'd hope they fix the issues with using four memory modules, but I don't think it has. Not actually tried the bios yet, as I'm at work, however the boys over at extremesystems forum seem to think that the early indications are it isn't about to light any fires and release the full potention of this motherboard...

CPU temp deffinately changed with 0701. Mine is also now higher than my core temps. Looks like they have tightened up the timing with this release though. Heres my Memory results. Clock speed are as shown in the screenies.

As you ALREADY know, the cooling system splits in to 2 parts, leaving the factory mosfet cooling assembly free to be used still without the NB/SB section. The mosfets produce far less heat nowadays as as long as your board isn't warp city with a cpu heatsink/block attached, you are fine. For my sb cooling I use a Thermaltake Extreme Spirit 2 heatpipe cooler without the fan thingy on it.

what gfx card you using?

not sure that thermal right would fit under my 8800 ultra

Thermaltake, not thermalright. I have both the HR05 and SLI versions and the Thermaltake fitted better. I use a full cover waterblock so it only takes up 1 slot, but the mounting options on the thermaltake are very flexible. I ditched the original mechanism and made my own one up with brackets I had hanging around and a bit of modding. Remember that if you are gently, you can always bend out the heatpipes a bit to increase fin clearance.

Mr. Footlong, is that "only" a 400W PSU you're using? I have an Enermax Liberty 500W and am worried I'll have to upgrade it if I ever add new GPU + quad cpu, etc. in the future.

No it isn't. My primary is a 620w Liberty that can be seen in this pic:

I fitted the 400w Liberty later on using an old ATX relay that I had hanging around. The 620 pretty well powers just the mobo and graphics. The 400w powers all drives, pumps, lighting, fans etc. Originally the 400 was just for the 8800GTX or crossfire but my old P5W64 and P5K deluxe took great offence to having the graphics pci-e connectors being powered from a different PSU to the one powering the mobo!

Either way the 400W cost peanuts and I have a lot of headroom (1020W in theory) and stability power-wise :).
